DVC Getaways through Interval International

Question for those of you who have used or know about the getaways-

My in-laws own a Marriott timeshare where you (or any of their family members) can have 12 "getaways" per year through Interval International. There is never any availability on these.

DVC calls their Interval International exchange program "getaways". Does anyone know if these are the same getaways or if they are just using the getaway term for their exchange program.

We are looking to buy in the next few days but I would occasionally like to trade to go elsewhere but know from experience that Interval International Getaways for Marriott members aren't worth it.

It was a poor choice of names by DVC. Getaways as used by DVC is really regular II exchanges. For certain areas and short notice, II getaways can be found at good prices. What's better though are bonus weeks that you get for depositing higher demand weeks of 1 BR or larger. The price is guaranteed at $199-299 plus tax depending on unit size, tends to be similar locations but can be had much further out and with more certainty. DVC members don't have access to II's bonus weeks or cash getaways.
