DVC free valet parking

Wow! I pride myself on knowing a lot about DVC, Disney, etc., but did not know that the valets were now contract hires.

Last October my DD and SIL valeted at BW to go to dinner. I was back at OKW babysitting. Long story now short. Valet lost the key to the rental car at BW. DD and SIL were leaving the next morning and the baby's car seat was in the car. Valet was less than helpful. After fruitless hunting and much time passed, they drove DD and SIL back to OKW and said they would see what else they could do to get the car seat out. Many phone calls back to valet and they said they were working on it. Finally, around 11 p.m., they appeared at OKW with the car and an extra key which they had gotten from the rental agency.

What really frosted us, though was there was no apology and nothing extra nice (Disney Magic) for us at all. We were truly not happy.

In fact, I went to BW the next day in the car and used the valet parking to see what they would do for me. They recognized the name and the car and I said don't lose the key. The valet said he would park it right next to the door and they did. (What good would that do if they lost the key???) Again no apology, nothing special.

I did put this into an evaluation that was sent to me, but realize that this would not have done much good since the valets are not CMs.

This is not good!

Seems like it is easier to simply park your own car and get a little exercise and walk. We never valet park, mostly because it just seems more efficient to do it yourself. We have never had problems finding parking at any of the resorts. My husband will usually drop us (the family) and the luggage off up front then park the car.

Much easier and quicker than dealing with all the problems and inconveniences in the above posts.

Remember to each his own!

I usually do self-park at BWV. But there have been times late in the afternoon when I drove round and round in the main parking lot and could not find a spot. So I just valeted. I usually put the car in valet the night before check-out so that we can just bring our luggage down and put it right in the car (call for the car from the room).

I've never had to show my member card when staying at BWV and using valet. They just go by the parking permit which says "member".

Yikes! That is good reason to only give them the valet key for a car! I think to replace one of my regular keys is around $350! :scared:

Ditto! :scared1: What a scary thought! I know DH and I both have our keys to the car when we travel. From now on well bring the Valet key too and perhaps lock it in the glove compartment for ready access. Or is that just giving thieves the right to take my car? Oh well, we'll think of something.

Keep extra in room safe.
