DVC for non dvc resort??

I know this not advised but my friend and I are looking at every possible situation for a trip this Jan. My friend is a DVC member and we are not.
I know we can rent points which we may do.

How would we find out how many points my friend would need for renting for a moderate or value resort? Is there a calculator for this or only for dvc resorts.

You'd have to ask someone who could look it up for you, or she could look it up on the member site - those point charts aren't publically available (to the best of my knowledge). You can't use points at a Value, and a moderate will cost you more than a DVC room.

As crisi already posted, you'll see that renting points for a non-DVC resort will cost you more than if you just booked through CRO/WDWTC, especially if you can get any kind of discount.

Our points are 'meant' to be used at the DVC resorts, and that's where you'll find the cost savings as a renter.

DVC has made arrangements with WDW to let us use our points at the mods and deluxes, but the points per night are WAY higher than they are if we use them at the DVC resorts.

For you as a renter, that means that you'll actually pay more per night renting points to stay at a moderate than you would booking throught CRO.

Or, you could rent points at a DVC resort and get a much nicer room.

For instance, it's 16 points a night to stay in a standard view at a moderate, Sun -Thurs, in the middle of January. If you can find someone to rent to you for $10 a point, you'd be paying $160 a night, which is awfully high for a moderate. You'll do much better through CRO.

Or, you could stay in a studio at Beach Club Villas, be a short walk from Epcot's International Gateway, and have all the amenities of a deluxe resort, including access to Stormalong Bay, and a kitchenette in your room, for 12 points a night.

Good advice from everyone, but the fact is, if you are looking at next month, DVC is probably sold out.
