Yeah. I think it's safer to assume very few, and be pleasantly surprised if you get some, though. Keep your expectations tiny, go through life without being so whiny.Only "certain" discounts are restricted. We don't really have a good sense for what that means.
We are very new and trying to learn about DVC in the resale world. What, if any of the pre 4/4 "perks" are still available to resale buyers? Specifically, Pool hopping, discounts of any kind, taking the DVC boat shuttle to Disney Springs at OKW, purchasing add-on points as an owner? Any other info the DVC "experts" can help with is great! TIA!!!
Thanks so much for the info you provided. I know Beach Club was always prohibited to "pool hop" but, are Poly, VWL, also excluded? I'd love to visit AKL pools also some day. Are they a "no-go"?The restricted "perks" are the ones provided by DVD, the sales group of the DVC. The perks that are paid for through dues are still available to all. Pool hopping is being slowly removed IMO, as new resorts are added, they are restricted from pool hopping.
Transportation like boats are open to all guests, any DVC owner can purchase add-on points.

Good to know, thanks!AKL, Poly are prohibited from hopping and VWL was also just restricted. Slowly that perk is being eliminated just by resorts being taken off the list.
"No soup for you!" You get the white membership card for resale owners, which only affords you a few perks. Like access to TOWL lounge, DVD rentals at the resort your staying at, pool hopping a a few more.
No, you have to print the white card yourself and it has a 3 month expiration date. On the DVC website type in membership card in the search field, and it will give you a link to the membership card web page. From there it will let you print out an image of a 3-month membership card. I'm thinking I'll just take a pic with my phone before my next Disney trip and keep it on my phone during my stay.Do you get the white membership card in the mail? I haven't received anything.

Does anyone think that with all the members buying resale and being discriminated by not giving them the same benefits as all other members prior to April 2016. Would it be cause for a class action law suite? I understand that it is a benefit and it can be taken away at anytime. But, it should be an equal benefit. Does it seem fair to an individual that purchased April 4th, 2016, than and individual that purchased April 5th. 2016. If you ask me I think a class action suite is in order!
And I know what some people are going to say "Well you knew you weren't going to get the incidentals benefits when you purchased" Yes I know! But it's the matter of principal! Plus we are not supposed to be living in an age of segregation. A membership is a membership no matter what! We all have ownership rights and soon more will be without benefits than those with the benefits. If their are any attorneys out there listening???

Just looked at the ROFR thread and it is posted there too so we are up to 5 threads
Poor manners on a BBS IMO. About the max should have been one post on a thread then possibly a new thread.BUT ITS A MATTER OF PRINCIPAL!!!
I'm just not sure if my high school principal would appreciate the principle espoused. Nothing like bringing meritless suits when the person is still getting access to the same suites as everyone else.
You didn't buy the same product. They bought "new" or "dealer pre-owned". You bought used, knowing that the "extras" that were given to the original purchaser didn't carry over to the used timeshare buyer. Your reward was the ability to purchase at a lower price.
If you ask me, a class action lawsuit would be beyond absurd in this instance. Where are your damages? You weren't given something that no one is guaranteed, and could be taken away from those who do have it? And that you knew you wouldn't be entitled to when you purchased? And if you won, would you be willing to pay Disney the difference between their going rate for direct purchased points and your resale contract? Because, you know... you want it all to be fair, lol.

I've been one of the strongest advocates on this board that DVC shouldn't distinguish between members.Your seeing it from your perspective because you probably bought prior to 4-4-2016 or you paid full price, but you have to see it from the perspective of those that buy it after 4-4-2016. Yes we all know its not guaranteed. But when members that pay dues and are "equal" get excluded from member events and location restriction. Then this goes against the original condo docs that states members would not be treated differently because they purchased a resale. Example: Member post 4-4-16 don't receive the blue membership cards and thus in the hot summer months would not be able to enjoy the DVC Members Lounge at Epcot. That's discrimination against fellow members whether or not they paid full price. Where it's really going to hurt is the resale when you try to sell and you find out that your loosing almost $10 a year per point and what you ask for not nearly what people are willing to pay. From the reports I read DVD owns more than 50% of OKW and it isn't a coincidence. Also as time goes on what happened in 2011, 2016 will continue to happen until it's completely worthless. Then DVD will have ROFR and sell extended contracts.
