Is anyone else going to the DVC event in Schaumburg? I'm hoping to get the scoop ahead of time and figure out if I really want to go or not. We just got back from WDW a week ago so we're tired. Seeing Mickey won't be as exciting as it would normally be and it's an hour plus drive for us. I'm hoping for a report from someone! Is Thursday the first event? We're scheduled for Saturday.

We're going to the last one on Sunday because it was the only time we could fit it in with the boys' sports, so I really can't help. We haven't seen Mickey since February, so we ready for a little mouse fix!:goodvibes

We're going Friday night. Been to all of these member events. We were one of the sweepstakes winners of the 4 night all expense paid trip to WDW a couple years ago. We always turn up. Plus there will be lots of stuff about the Disney Dream, and we're already booked on it for next summer to celebrate DD's high school graduation. We were just at WDW in March, but are always up for a Disney/DVC fix. Plus Woodfield is only 20 minutes from our home. I hear there will be characters again and a dance party at the end.

We just returned from WDW last Tuesday but we are going tonight!!!
I have nothing better to do this evening and it's a free night out immersed in Disney!
I will report back when it's over.

1st time late Sunday evening. I forgot to call till late and it was the only time left. Read great things on the Dis so thought I better check out. Sad to miss ending of Lost though.

What?!?!! You're going to miss the last episode of lost?!? Better record it. :-)

I just returned from the event and I can say this was the best one I have attended.
Deevy See was there and she was a HOOT! They really made this presentation more of a entertaining show rather than a boring sales spiel.
There's some surprises that I don't want to spoil for those who are going.
Afterward there was tons of food; sandwiches, make your own sundaes, fun beverages, a beautiful fruit centerpiece with fruit skewers. Then the fab five came out in their sailing costumes and danced and took pictures with everyone. There was a D.J. for a great "Bon Voyage" dance party.

Anyway the deals as I wrote down are this:
Add on 100 points get 3 night ocean view stateroom for up to 4 people

Add on 125 points get 4 nights ocean view stateroom for up to 4 people

Add on 200 points get 7 night cruise on Disney Wonder to Mexican Riviera or Western Caribbean on Disney Magic for up to 4 people
OR choose the S.S. Members Cruise for 2 people in 2011 in an ocean view stateroom

250 points get same incentive as the 200 point level but get a verandah room for up to 4 people

400 point add on= get same as 250 point level plus a $800 on board ship credit

The only thing they mentioned as a discount instead of the cruises was at the 250 point add on level, you get a $22 discount per point.

I don't know what or even if there is a discount offered for lower point add on levels instead of choosing the cruises.
Sorry if every detail here is not correct, I was writing very fast. I did not talk to a sales rep. to get more info on any further discounts.

Every family got a blue DVC lightweight tote bag; the type you can take to the grocery store and use instead of those plastic bags and a nice notebook holder printed with a Mickey Design and says "Disney Vacation Club". Everyone also received a framed Disney artwork picture of Captain Mickey.

It was blast! I even got my picture taken with Deevy See! And I never had a Konk Cooler but I now know what it is and it is fabulous. They gave out the recipe too so I can make them at home!

Thanks so much for sharing, Famsen! We're going tomorrow night and can't wait. You've just gotten me even more excited about going!!

Thanks for the info famsen although it's not really what I was hoping to hear. We're not looking for the cruise, we were looking for the $$ and from the looks of things they've lowered the discount from $12/pt to $8/pt since we talked to our guide a couple of weeks ago. If that is the case I don't think we'll be doing our add-on. :sad1: Keeping my fingers crossed that they'll still have the cash offer.

Thanks for the information! We've definately decided to go. Do they always have the sweepstakes drawing for a free trip? That alone made my DH ready to go! If the baby doesn't like being there, DH volunteered to take her out. I'm sure my boys will like the kid's club-or whatever it's called. Now I'm excited! Thanks!

Thanks famsen for the info. I know we won't be adding on 100 or more points but it should be fun anyways.

Just back from the Friday night event. It was good fun. Very little selling, mostly just a DVC love-in (fine with us!). Great surprises, excellent food, and lots of character exposure.

Were tempted to do a small add-on at AKL (as we always are after being Disneyfied). Our guide said points for a 25 pt add on were $112 at currently selling properties with no discount, but we could get a set of matching points (once). First time we've seen any kind of dog bone for such a small add on. Will think on it.

Enjoyed the DVC/Disney fix immensely.

hmmmmm... matching points for a small add-on (even just once), something to think about. Thanks for the update Sky.

Hey Tiggermetoo, the matching one-time points for a small add-on wasn't announced during the event...our guide offered it to my husband when he went to ask about any incentives. So that might be worth an ask ;-)

I need to clarify--did the guide really say you could add on just 25 points? We asked about a 25 point add on couple months ago when we were at a DVC event on a cruise and were told "no". I'm curious because we'd like 25 more points at BLT.

Maybe we need to drive from Rockford to Woodfield this weekend....

Skylynx, we were there last night as well, had a great time! Love Deevee See, she's a riot! Who is the guide that told you that? my dh was trying to convince me to add on 25 more, so we'd be at 500pts, and he asked Derek about it, he told us the price of it, but didn't mention any extra points.
Interesting...
