DVC downpayment question

We are fixing to buy back into DVC...We sold in 2006 so our daughter could go to college...We bought when you could sell your points back towards the down payment. My question is how long do you have to pay the downpayment....We are paying 500.00 down and the rest with the paperwork...I read somewhere where you could take up to 60 days to pay the downpayment...We want take that long but just wanted to see if it was in fact an option.

I think you can take that long. I recently bought at the end of May. They took my initial deposit and I had asked if they could defer the rest until June 10th so it could go on my next credit card statement, buying me an extra 45 days. (I get billed on the 10th, so if the charge goes through then it will make it on the next statement which would not have been due until August 4). Well, he actually made it so it didn't go through until July 10th. So that was at least 6 weeks that they were willing to wait.

Initially our guide said 30 days but being that I wanted to pay cash, I think we deferred it to 35 days or something like that. They are really flexible.

DVC gave us 45 days to pay the remaining balance on our last contract, so we could put it into a future cc billing cycle. Our guide told us that 45 days is the longest they will wait, even though DVC tells people that 30 days is the norm.

There's no set in stone date. However you do want to let your guide know so they can put a note in. Eventually Disney will wonder if you are cancelling and send letters. Just keep anyone who needs to know there in the loop and you will be OK.
