I’m buying direct. Can I make my down payment with a credit card instead of cash? Also any one know if any fee for using a card? Want to maximize points for travel. Figured if no fee and they allow it it’s a no brainer. Thanks for help.

To add, with the Disney Visa you can ask them to space out any of the charges for 30 to 90 days if you want to charge more than deposit.

Ive read some people had trouble getting the 90 recently but spacing gives you even extra month or so at 0% interest which is nice!

If you have Dis Visa there is a 5% bonus for travel and DVC is included. Check on the website my offer ends mid August. Offers are difficult to find on the website but there $$ there and 0% for 6 months (automatic)! Good luck!

Yes, and if you ask, they have a 1-year financing option if you put 50% down. The APR is lower - 4.99% or 5.99%, I believe.

Just be careful with this. I almost did the 1-year and decided I would rather not have such a high monthly payment. I'm glad I went with the 5-year (there is no pre-payment penalty). I ended up needing a new HVAC system a couple weeks ago - in a heat wave. SURPRISE! I'm glad I still had more fluid cash and the extra space in my monthly budget. I'm still on-track to paying the loan off in about a year, but I have the flexibility I needed in the moment. I would have preferred not to finance at all, but I bought in direct before it went up to 125 minimum and I figured paying some interest to keep things fluid in a pandemic was worth it to me.

You can actually pre-pay on the loan with a credit card. You just don't get the 0% for 6 months on the Disney card when doing this and I'm not sure what it codes as.

I've been digging around the website and I can't find the 5% back on travel offer. Do you know if that was a targeted offer? did you have to sign up for it? Anyone else get those perks. We are about to use our card for the full purchase, and would much prefer the 5% over the 2%.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with past posts because I don't think the Disney Visa is the best credit card to use to earn rewards. Depending on what you're looking for, there are better offers through different credit card companies. We regularly use our Costco Anywhere Visa from Citi because we like that it gives us cash back rewards (they literally give us a check every year), in addition to other benefits. ....And it's honestly not even the best credit card if you're really looking for rewards. If you're planning to do a large purchase with the intent on reaping on the credit card benefits, I suggest that you look online and compare each credit card and current offers that they have, and also read articles/blogs.

Mine came in at 6%. It was on my account when I logged in to Chase. I tried to activate it and couldn’t. It took about an hour and multiple people at Chase but they managed to activate it for me last week.

I purchased 25 add-on points direct using my Disney Premeire card. I did this a day before the price increase so saved $5 a point. Got 6% back on the first $1500 then 2% on the rest. 6 months and 0% Interest. It will cost me a little less than $750 a month plus I got the rewards on my card. And today, got a surprise package in the mail...a DVC Backpack and 2 DVC Member Magnets. We got the 2020 points and banked them. Pretty pleased with this. If Chase does the 6% again next year, we may do the same thing and add on 25 more.

I got an email offering me the increase to 5% on travel. I had to go in and activate it so I do wonder if it is account specific? I don't use my card all that much now, but have been to earn extra rewards for my upcoming trip.

Chase is also having a similar promotion of the 5% back on travel with the Amazon chase card. Check your email if you want to see if you got the offer for the Disney or Amazon card, they sent the emails to activate the offers in May. If I was buying direct I'd put $1500 on the Disney or Amazon card to get 5% and the rest on something like the sapphire reserve card.

Open Chase and click on your Dis Visa Account. It will show your balance, limit etc and on the bottom left is a suitcase and the offer. Clicking on the offer this is what I get. Hope it helps!

When you’re ready, you can turn your travels into more Disney Rewards Dollars through August 15.From 5/15/21 to 8/15/21, you'll earn 6% total in Disney Rewards Dollars for every $1 your spend at most Disney locations and 5% total in Disney Rewards Dollars for every $1 you spend on other travel purchases and at gas stations on up to $1,500 in total combined purchases with your Disney® Premier Visa® Card.1, link to go to footnote 1,2 link to go to footnote 2

Not only can you put a down payment on a credit card, you can put the entire purchase on a credit card (if you are not interested in financing, for example).
This is what we did. Charged 20% down, had the cash to pay it off, then financed the rest of the contract and paid it off on the CC in 10k chunks. Got airfare for family of four with those points:-)

Sadly, this seems to be a targeted offer, as I have a Disney Premier Visa and it’s telling me I’m not eligible.

As to which card to make the purchase with, I do agree to research what is best for you, but 2% back with 6 months 0% financing is still a pretty good offer! Also, you CAN change which credit card is used if you spread the payments out over 90 days.

I dont have it either!! :headache:

We have a SW Chase and I did have a bonus 5% for restaurants for that one so I activated it...but I want the Disney one - especially on my Disney Visa!
