We were on the Dream in early June and decided to add on more points through a purchase of 120 points at Aulani. We received all the paperwork and then were told to not fill it out because some documents needed to be changed. After some charging errors on their part, no new set of documents and no calls from our guide, we are a little baffled.

I am fully aware of the hold they have placed on Aulani contracts, and we can patiently wait for an outcome. However, my DH and I are mostly surprised that a company like DVC has failed to call us with any updates or even send us a letter. I imagine that a simple letter stating their intent to resolve the issue and then notify us immediately would suffice. But, as we see Aulani ads EVERYWHERE, DVC fails to campaign to the people who are ready to pay big bucks to buy a piece of paradise.

I must add that we have received a few calls but they were in response to the messages we left on our guide's voice mail. After four months we are debating our add on. Is anyone else in the same boat or equally surprised?

Disney has been extremely irresponsible concerning Aulani. They need to communicate with their customers concerning what has happened. I cannot recall any official statement from Disney concerning the issues at Aulani. It seems to me that the Board of Directors also has a fiduciary duty to communicate with current owners about the state of affairs at Aulani. They may have written the rules to allow them to do whatever they want regardless of the obvious conflicts of interest, however that does not relieve them of their duties to report to the members. The silence is deafening and insulting to the members.

Obviously Aulani and possibly other issues have Disney in a horrible position. What ever the truth is, it's a huge legal problem and with legal issues it's always better not to say anything. Disney has a history of not telling DVC Members anything until after it happens and they always blame the other guy who can't defend himself. It's very rare that a corporate executive is fired unless there is a political and/or legal reason and we know of three and I have heard that there may be a fourth executive involved.

Disney is also dealing with the State of Hawaii who has the power to revoke their timeshare license which would result in a huge financial hit.

Once they have resolved the issues I am sure that we will read about it here on the DIS.

I would agree that a certain amount of communication is in order but it sounds like you've talked to your guide and know things are on hold. I'd suspect there are legal requirements keeping them from discussing sales at a place that they are not currently licensed or authorized to sell as they have it set up.

Quite often if there is pending leagation against company that company cannot discuss the matter as per a possible court order until the matter is settled (not of which i'm aware of). Standing posting or advertisements are not included because its agreed by all the matter will be settled and it would be to costly to remove and possibly damage stock value. However to speak or correspond with any members that they already have exsisting contracts until the matter is settled. Just info have no knowledge Disneys doing this.

Thank you everyone! I am beginning to understand the severity of this. I am sure that the guides would LOVE to call me, but they could also lose their jobs if they say too much. I'm sure everyone at DVC is on pins and needles right now.

I'll let you know if I hear anything. popcorn::

Just to show the severity of the situation, I was out at D23 last month and they did a presentation on Aulani during the Parks & Resorts session and there was no mention of DVC or Villas. It was presented as a Disney Resort, period. I'm sure they would have loved to get some info out to help sales. In fact the only mention of DVC was at the beginning when they listed the divisions included under Parks & Resorts.
