Just wondering why I have to show my dvc card and driver's license to get a discount at OKW yet I can go to many restaurants on disney properties and be identified as a dvc member and automatically get a discount without having to show my card or driver's license. Something is wrong when a restaurant can identify me but my home resort wants proof.

I've always had to shown my DVC card to get the discount. 50% of the time they ask for ID. I have noticed that if we are charging with a MB, they are less likely to ask for ID....but I always get carded when asking for the Disney Visa discount.

Disney's policy for all discounts is to show proof of discount (AP Card/AP Discount Card/DVC Card/TiW Card/etc.) and a Photo ID. Obviously, any CM not asking for both is not following the rules.

The MB may identify you but it does not assure you are the one wearing it, e.g., while in the park you can give your MB to anyone else in your party to use for FP+. Thus, they require your DVC card and usually also your ID for discounts.

I wish our magic band would work for this. For our last weekend trip I left my AP cards at home thinking "hmm, I don't need these, I have my bands!" Nope, how dumb of me! I couldn't get my AP discount (or DVC (no card either)...I actually didnt know there is one, is it the same??) on anything we bought. Oops! Lesson learned!

That's also why they will not allow the DVC slider as ID for the discount. Too easy to hand to someone else.

Every one in our party got the sliders, they didn't even have to be a member. DH and I are members, but all 6 people in our party got them.....and 2 sets of them at that since we had a split stay.

From a financial standpoint, Disney would rather leave it up to the guest to ask for any available discounts instead of extending it automatically. If the guest fails to ask for the discount, that's more money towards Disney's financial statements. Yes, I know on a single purchase it may not be much, but if you multiply that times every DVC Member/Annual Passholder/Disney Visa Card holder, etc. it's a lot of money in total.

I carry my AP, driver's license, DVC Member Card, Disney Visa and I believe my AAA. I have learned I need to carry them all. When I leave one in the safe, someone wants to see it.
