DVC discounts after the demise of Disney Club

Don't forget that at one time park passes WERE part of the DVC benefits.
Matt was correct when he said that the passes at OKW were a sales incentive but I think it's important to add that this incentive was not paid for by Disney but the developer.

"No one on this board has any valid data that would suggest a park admission discount for DVC members will increase Disney profits. What we have is several posters who say they would spend more if such a discount were offered. Since I believe Disney knows very well where its revenue comes from, I can only infer that their actual data (spending habits of DVC members) suggests otherwise."

I agree completely with the post; however, Disney's park attendance, except for Tokyo, keeps dropping and the answer is not to increase prices...and I expect as soon as Eisner goes, someone will figure that getting someone into a park, even for a lunch or dinner, will bring in more than having them go to Universal, which is where I'm going and have been since the "sales incentive" free passes disappeared.
:(

But to all those Florida residents that think otherwise, park discounts and NO STATE INCOME TAX thanks to "visitors" like us!

There was no state income tax in Florida long before Disney was there.

Just to clarify... Disney is the developer -- in the form of Disney Vacation Development (DVD), a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.

Florida may not have a state income tax, but they have something that most other states do not: Florida's "intangibles tax".

If you own stocks or other "intangibles" worth more than $20K, then at the end of each year, you have to give the state 0.1% of the value beyond $20K.

So if you have saved up a retirement nest egg of say $500K, then you owe the state [($500K - $20K) * 0.001] = $480.

Again, we have no valid data that would suggest that park attendance of DVC members as a whole is dropping. If the actual data shows Disney that a discount on park admission for DVC members would not noticably increase revenues, why would they offer one?

I may have more confidence in Disney's middle management than some, but I believe they have data of this type and are quite capable of analyzing it. Obviously, JMHO.

Florida has a number of taxes that hit the residents as well as the visitors. It is not one of the lowest tax states overall though it's not at the top either. My recollection is that it's in the 30's with 50 being the lowest.

It would be a pretty sad state of affairs if Dow 30 companies could be regularly out-brained by amateurs without data. I think we all can rest assured that it just isn't the case.
