I am really confused on the UPH pass concept. My sister and her family are coming with us. My husband and I have annual passes so do not need tickets.

Can I purchase UPH passes for my sister, BIL and their 2 kids when we check in?

We are arriving late Thursday Jan 8 and leaving early Thursday Jan 15. We were going to buy 5 day PHP plus passes from AAA.

They are $274.00 US for the adult ticket and $218.50 US for the child's ticket. Can someone help me out with what is the best deal?

I realize that there is a 10% DVC discount but how do I know how long the pass will last?

Yes. You will be able to use your DVC membership to get UPH tickets for them at a 10% discount. You can see the prices here:

Scroll down to find the prices for UPH tickets. The listed prices do not include the 10% DVC discount. Use the gate prices and multiply them by .9 to get the price.

The CM will allow you to drop the arrival day and departure day from the UPH ticket since you are arriving late and departing early. That means you would get the 6 day/5 night UPH ticket. Adult is $312.05. With the 10% discount, you would pay $280.85 for an adult UPH ticket.

The days on the PHP pass do not expire. If you decide not to go to the park one day (maybe because of the weather), you could use the day on a future trip. THe UPH ticket expires at midnight on the day before you depart. You pay the same for a UPH whether you visit a park every day or not.

THe UPH ticket includes unlimited access to the waterparks and Disney Quest as well as access to the major parks for all 6 of the full days of your stay. The PHP pass includes only 5 days of admission to the 4 major parks and a limited number of admissions to the waterpark (probably 2, but maybe 4) and does not include DQ at all.

You will have to decide what works best for you based on how you plan to tour. If you want to visit a major park every day, my advice is to go with the UPH.

Good luck! Enjoy!

Thanks very much for the informative reply. So if I go to purchase these passes when I get there, this is a guaranteed thing? I do NOT want to be without a decent price on the park passes. We are Canadian so there are still exchange rates involved.

They won't cause me any grief because ALL of the people in my party aren't purchasing them? I thought that was one of the stipulations.

Technically they are supposed to be in he same unit as the member to get the disccount. If they're not, DVC usually extends the discount anyway but there are no guarantees.
