DVC Discount on MNSSHP?

It looks like the discounts are mostly Tuesdays and Thursdays, not weekends, right? We're going to try to go the first weekend of October to use up DP's. I've never done the parties before, so here's a basic question: Do you have to have a park ticket in addition to the party ticket? We were thinking of skipping the parks this trip, but maybe this would be a nice way of doing a little park visit without laying out for park passes.

It is a hard ticket event. You don't need to purchase a park ticket just the party ticket. The party ticket gets you into MK at 4pm. It is a blast. We like it better than MVMCP.
