Ok, this is confusing yet simple and I am not sure if I should post in here or under DDP. We are staying at beach on points for two nights (so this is one ressie). The 3rd night was only available for cash so we booked that (so a second ressie). They are linked so we shouldn't have to change rooms (or so they claim). Anyway, that link is what I am concerned about. Can we buy the ddp just for the points nights and not get it messed up on that checkin/check out day when we switch to the cash night?
The Dxddp plans seems to save us $150 (if we actually want all the food), but this trip is a 4 way split stay so trying it on a segment or two seems like a good test.

They are considered separate reservations, so you can buy the dining plan for just the points stay. Just a word of warning though, even though they are linked, you might still have to move. We have had a similar situation twice and had to move both times (after being told at check in we were good). It was very frustrating to be homeless just to move into the same type of room we had before. But I supposed having to move rooms at Disney is worth it to be at Disney.

If your cash reservation is through DVC, they will link them into one reservation and you'll need the dining plan for all the nights. But if it is through Disney Reservation Center, it will stay two and you may have to move unless you are blocked into the room. You will have to check out and check in again. And they might not allow the dining plan for one and not the other.

I've had the same situation with a beach club stay. 2 nights on points and one cash. All done through DVC . The dining plan was for all days - one consecutive stay.

I have an upcoming reservation for June at beach club again with one night in the middle on cash and was told it would be one consecutive reservation.

I'm in a similar situation, but changing to a different room, i looked online yesterday and it shows on the DVC website that I can get the DDP for the first two nights only. My question is this,

If I arrive on the 19th May for two nights when do I have to use it up by? We will not arrive until late afternoon on the 19th as from the UK, so we will be early to bed!

Also regarding the refillable mugs, last time I was at Disney we changed resorts after buying the mugs and I was Informed later on that the mugs should still work but if not could be reactivated to cover two weeks from when we purchased them. Will the ones that come with the DDP also work for two weeks or will they stop working after two days?

Trying to work out if it's worth while giving it a go with DDP, we have never tried this before.

If you buy the dining plan for your first two nights, it will expire on the day you check out of that reservation. Be careful, you might have a problem after you check out of that reservation and check into the next one. You will have to check out and check in each time. The mug should be good for 14 days.

So what your saying is, the DDP may expire as soon as I check in for the next room, instead of lasting until the end of the day? I assume it would normally expire midnight the day you check out?

No, it won't expire until midnight of the day you check out. But you may have problems using it after you check out and may need to get Disney CMs involved in the process.
