We are going to switch from Tables in Wonderland to DVC discounts this coming year. Tables in Wonderland is so much more expensive than in the past, we're drinking (alcohol) so much less than in the past, and I see that I can get a 10% discount from DVC at practically every place I can get the 20% discount from Tables at Wonderland, and then some. I've noted a few exceptions, where DVC discount is only offered for lunch or Monday to Friday, but other that, is there anything I should know about using this discount? I do have a card but if I forget to bring it can I just bring up the image of my temporary on my phone? Are there any other gotchyas?

And although it isn't on-topic here, I also have a DVC Annual Pass. I've seen that the Annual Pass offers dining discounts as well. Does anyone know how that works, given that we don't have a physical Annual Pass anymore? Do they give the discount just based on what your Magic Band says?

Annual Pass discounts require that you show your physical AP yellow card. If you don't have one, you can pick up a replacement at any ticket window or Guest Relations location. You still also need a photo ID.

DVC discounts generally require your blue membership card be presented along with photo ID. The electronic version may be accepted, but it can depend on the CM.

As the pp mentioned, you must show the physical AP card or the blue DVC card for the discount along with a photo ID. We have never had a problem getting the discount with the proper IDs.
Depending on where you eat, you should do the math to see if the TiW card makes sense. For us, it has even with DVC and AP. Except for the year they had 20% discount for AP, then the numbers didn't worked for us with TiW.

Nowhere in any published material does it say that you need the blue card for the discount. You need a membership card, yes, but not necessarily the blue card.

Be aware that the DVC and AP discounts are only good for four total people, while the TiW is good for up to 10.

Our AP is only on our account right now. We bought it online and never received anything in the mail. Will we receive a yellow card when we activate? We've done this several times before but I don't ever remember getting one.

YOu don't get anything in the mail. YOu have to go to a Guest RElations or ticket window to activate, and they will give you the yellow card.

Only blue cards qualify. You have to be direct to get the perks. Now, I’ve heard of some getting the DVC without showing a card, but I wouldn’t count on it.

You can use the temporary card on your phone. They are accepted just like the regular card.

This is great information! I was just going to ask what I needed to carry with me in the parks for discounts. Would the cast members know which card gets the bigger discount or should I carry a cheat sheet to know which card to use when?

We do not have a physical AP card and the CMs have always just asked to show them the ticket section of MDE. Worked every time even in stores.

I have found that the cards are not all that heavy so I always card my TIW card, DVC blue card, AP yellow card and Photo ID. Why risk not getting the discounts you PAID for, hey it's your money. I have discovered I like money in MY pocket, so much more than in Disney's.

TiW has the bigger discounts. DVC and AP have 10% at most TS places and TiW is 20%. So if you are AP and DVC it is usually whichever card you pull out first. That said, always check online before a trip and look at the places you are eating to see the specific discounts. Things don't usually change during the year, but it is always good to be prepared.

You need a blue card to qualify for “Membership Extras.” I’ve had to say this a lot on this board, but I’ll say it again. There is no clear list of which perks are actually under the “Membership Extras” designation and which are available to all owners. It’s all part of what is commonly called a “FUD campaign.” That’s Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Disney keeps it ambiguous so that other people (like you and me) push their agenda even when the rules aren’t clear. The restrictions say that “certain” discounts are restricted, but doesn’t detail which discounts those are.

I wouldn't bank on discounts without the blue card. We saw people get denied with the white card at Tony's this summer. So maybe you can get away with it, but you can't rely on it.

The same holds true for the yellow AP card. The CM is supposed to see the physical card before applying the discount. It's always possible that a given CM may let you get by without the card, but you can't count on it.

It would be nice if Disney offered a 10% discount to DVC members for the Dining plan.

There are a few places I have found so far that provide a higher discount with DVC than with AP. I haven't found any examples of the opposite.

Strange. The lists are pretty much identical this year

There a few Epcot restaurants with higher DVC discount than AP e.g. Via Napoli, Nine Dragons, Restaurant Marrakesh, Spice Garden, and a few Disney Spring ones too.

House of Blues offers a larger Lunch discount for AP than DVC, but I think this is the only one, at least in the instances where a discount is offered for both DVC/AP.

We are staying at the BoardWalk twice during the year and that made the difference for us in terms of Tables in Wonderland. We were so close to break-even figuring 10% discounts for our Epcot meals, but we already have reservations at Tutto Italia (15% for DVC) and Spice Road Table (20% for DVC), and will likely visit Marrakesh and Via Napoli later in our year.
