DVC deposit

Last Monday I called the DVC office to request a info. guide. My plan was to look over the info guide, take a tour during our August vacation, and buy in August 2002.

Well a DVC rep. called on Thursday to let me know he has sent out the info and that I can buy without taking the tour. He also said I could use a part of the cost of my upcoming trip to help with with the deposit. ( We're staying on site to 19 nights) I have never heard of this option. Can someone give me some information about this?


Does anyone know of any Timeshare tours in the area that are open to single parents? I'm hoping to get free or low cost tickets for IOA or US. I checked two sites last week, but they will only allow married folks to take their tour.

In February we stayed at the VWL for cash and were going to check out DVC after reading this board for a long time. After a couple of nights we did the tour and loved it more than we thought we would. We used the cash that we would have spent on the room for our last four nights as a down payment. Used the points we just bought to pay for those four nights. Sold the leftover points back to Disney at the then $10 MB rate and was able to do the entire down payment with money already budgeted for that vacation. Now instead of saving each month for a trip next year, we are paying a smaller amount per month to Disney and will be going two times next year. It worked really well

If you really want to take the other timeshare tours, tell them you are a single parent and the ONLY decision maker. They are looking for couples because they don't want someone saying "oh, I have to check with my husband/wife" or "oh, I can't make that decision without my spouse, we do everything together".

It has nothing to do with your singlehood they jsut want to make their sales pitch to someone who can sign on the dotted line. It's called qualifying the prospect.
