DVC/DCL itinerary

For those of you who have gone on a cruise while on a vacation at WDW, what itinerary worked best for you? I am thinking about including a short cruise in next year's trip.

Point wise it's better to stay at DVC Sunday through Thursday nights and then take the three night cruise on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. But we like the four night crusie and would rather spend the extra points to stay at DVC on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and do the cruise Sunday through Thursday. We have done that twice and both times it worked out well.
