There's so much more to VWL than the pool slide and our family also prefers the bubbling springs pool.
What do you mean by the "bubbling springs pool"? We have a trip to VWL coming up so could you provide a little more info on this? Thanks!

1) Some people feel they need compensation for anything not to their liking.
2) It is a shame.
3) But, people are entitled to their own opinion.
4) I guess they feel that they WERE promised a rose garden.
5) I wish I could have been so lucky.

The quiet pool has "bubblers" in it! There are about 6? spots that have air bubbles coming up from the bottom of the pool. Neat effect and sensation when you swim over these little areas. Kinda cool!

Our second stay at VWL is coming up and we will definitely check out the villa pool this trip. Thanks for the info!

The best advice I can offer you as a fellow DVC owner and parent:

Teach you kids that sometimes life doesn't go exactly as planned. Be a good example and show them how to have a great attitude about it. There's so much more to VWL than the pool slide and our family also prefers the bubbling springs pool. Anyway, with DVC, you know you can always come back....

The best advice I have seen. :thumbsup2

I know the OP said they did not receive notification of the pool closure, so I understand the frustrations. DVC did sent out notifications a couple months prior to the closure. We just came back from our trip and had been sent a letter about the closure in Dec (?). So they did attempt to warn members.

FYI, I'm staying at VWL mid-March, and I received a letter months ago from DVC stating the main pool would be closed. Nice of them to do that. I'm not sure what we will do about a pool, if we even go swimming. Most likely will just use the villa pool. BTW, I picked VWL not for the main pool, but for the location - always wanted to stay there, and close to MK.

We got this letter, I have it with the ressie papers. After the huricanes we also received words once that VB was getting new roofing when we were scheduled to be there.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. So maybe it's a time factor, or maybe your letter got lost. I hope you still can enjoy your VWL stay.

Years ago, before BCV was constructed, we were staying at BWV. They had the pool closed there for maintenance.

They were doing a similar thing with pontoon boats. You could hop a boat at BWV and take it across to BC and use SAB. So, far from being a disappointment that the BWV pool was closed, it was actually a perk to get to go and use SAB instead.

We had the same thing happen with a BWV trip after BCV opened - its my one SAB experience (and it happened at a perfect time - two in lifejackets who needed to swim with Mom and Dad - two years later and I'd have needed to pack the Loreal). Disney tends to be pretty accomodating in getting guests to a pool that has the amenities you expect. It may not be ideal - travel time is worth something, but that is what they do. And they don't compensate anyone - not DVC members or regular hotel guests - for the inconvience associated with regular maintenance.

Something is closed nearly every trip - if the pool is open, one of the favorite attractions is down for maintenance. People plan "once in a lifetime" trips to discover that big attractions like Space Mountain are down. As was said, the nice thing about DVC is that you'll be back.

Just thought it would be nice to have had all the info up front before making the discission for my family.

And if you are paying for something that is advertised, you should get what you pay for. When I made the decision to stay at VWL, it was after looking at the Disney website and seeing the pictures and description of the pools. This was also what I advertised to my family.....When I told my 6yo son where we were staying, I stated it was the place with the slide that you said looked cool. Now he will be staying at the only resort that does not have a slide.

I check out several web sites before trip planning. Here is a link that includes some good info.

I also listen to the DIS on-line for the best info. :disrocks:

Since OP never replied back if they were members or not, I searched and found a previous thread where they said they rented the VWL points... so obviously it's not DVC's fault that whoever he rented from didn't notify the OP.... :confused3

Here's their original thread where he asked for compensation... and keeping this thread open doesn't serve much of a purpose anymore and can probably be closed...

Yep...looks like the person he should be whining to is the owner he rented from! Good catch.

I don't know who he means when he talks about Customer Service, but he's obviously not talking to our MS.

I'm not sure which would be funnier to watch -- him trying to pitch a fit at the VWL front desk on a rented ressie...or him trying to check into his hotel on a Florida resident rate and being asked for proof of Florida residence! Either one would be worth the price of the ticket, I suspect!

He's using a Florida resident rate and he lives in Long Island?! I can't believe he even had the nerve to make that sort of a post in the first place! Another good catch!

:rotfl2:
harhar... i caught that part too but didn't want to add fuel to the fire!!! Oh, I feel sorry for those CM's, and the people in line behind him!!!

Pardon my bluntness, but what do you want them to do for you??? :confused3

There is nothing in our disclosure documents that mentioned anything about Disney requiring to notify us any time they were working on a pool.

Be happy they still let us go to other pools!!!

We need to remind ourselves we are PAYING CUSTOMERS.
Saying that we should be happy they let us use other pools is not a good way of looking at things.
We have a right to compain like everyone else.
If you go anywhere hotel resturant whatever you should let the mgmt know.if you have a complaint.
I have witnessed hotel guests recieve compensation from hotels/resorts not living up to expectations.
Are you saying that since we belong to DVC we have no right to gripe when a main part of the resort is unavailable.?
We should not tolerate inconvience any more than we would if staying in a hotel for cash.

I AM EATING A CROW SANDWICH
I DID NOT READ ALL THE REPLYS BEFORE POSTING!!

yOU ARE CORRECT SEEMS LIKE A SCAMMER WHO WOULD BE COPLIANING AND LOOKING FOR A DEAL EVEN IF EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT.

I do however think that some of us are to defensive about posting anything negative towards DVC.

We should expect the same as any other disney guest (iF NOT MORE).
sORRY ABOUT MY QUCK RESPOSE.

First you said:
Usually I would complain until I got some money off, but here, there is no money (just points). Has anyone been compensated with anything else?

then you said:
There will not be any yelling or meltdowns, and I am far from that type of person that some have labelled me. I am just an upset parent looking for some guidance from fellow Disney lovers. I am trying to change to a different resort but it is tough with the 3 rooms we have.

so which is it?
do u complain unil blue in the face and get what you want or not?
thats a blatent contridiction you said
far from that type of person but you usually just complain until you get some money off? hum, scratches head...too bad there is no money in the cookie jar for you on this one..im sure you can fight for a free meal or something, just keep complaining. sheesh..

Another poster said that IF the Silver springs were open it would have been just as busy as you will be experincing at the quiet pool, he/she made a good point there...honestly it prob would have been more crowded than what you will experience at the quiet pool.

why dont you switch to saratoga or Old key west? Im sure they have 3 studios available and both of their pools are working....

Because the OP is not a member and he is renting a reservation from a member. The member would have to find the rooms available, not the OP (except for his FL Resident rates at the WL). Plus, this late and I'd doubt that even SSR or OKW would have anything that he would find suitable.
