We are going on a DCL cruise next month and was wondering what incentives were offered to buy more points on the cruise? We are trying to figure out if we should purchase now or wait until the cruise.

Thanks

Jon

I have been told that buying on DCL is the same as at home or at SSR currently.

When the salesperson tells you that they are throwing in last years points you are really getting what you paid for. :goodvibes

They might give you an on board credit for use during the cruise depending on the number of points purchased. Other than that, the pricing is the same as Bill said.

Ok, I must have been at a different DCL DVC meet than the PPs because when I was on a cruise in Jan the incentives were very good.

The price pp was the same if I remember but there was extra points, OBC, etc.

If I'd had the cash then I'd have added on there and then. I can't give you specifics as I don't remember but it was definitely better than buying on land and your normal rep still gets the credits for the sale.

I just called my guide because we leave Sunday for a cruise. She thought the incentives were the same, but we added on 60 points on our last cruise and received an OBC that my guide was surprised about. She advised me to find out on our sailing what they are offering and to go with whatever is best if we decide to add on again. She did say that she will remain my guide but whoever sells the add on when we buy on the ship will actually get the credit.

I can answer all of this for sure in the next few weeks.

I just got back from a cruise and purchased at Aulani. The incentives were a free stay at Aulani or $1600 onboard credit.

That seems to be exactly what's being offered now to all.
On our last cruise, we only wanted to add on 60 points. There was a small discount per point for that but no additional money. However, on the cruise we received the same discount and an OBC. We only want to add on another 50 points this time as well, so I'm interested to see if they will offer an OBC again. If so, it will be a better deal on the cruise. I will report back after next week. I think if you're adding on 100 or more points the incentives are the same. It doesn't appear the same for small add ons though if they do offer OBC for our small add on. I will let everyone know. :)

I thought I would report back---we are on our cruise now. They are no longer offering additional benefits when you purchase on the cruise. It is in fact the same deals you get at home. :( you can get OBC credit instead of money off of your purchase price but it equals the same in the end.

How do they give you onboard credits for the purchase??
Someone mentioned before, you have the 10 day florida state law cooling period.
I would do DCL, tell them i want to buy, use the obc, and then cancel as soon as we got to port...

Couple of things, onboard a ship, you aren't in Florida.

Disney has you sign your life away and you owe them money if you cancel.

Same thing when they offered other enticements to purchase, if the deal falls through, you have to pay them back.
