DVC Cruise

A dvc cruise costs a lot more money than a regular cruise so you probably wouldn't want to go anyway if your not a dvc member. I'm a dvc member been on 18 DCL cruises but never a dvc member cruise because of the extra $$$$

I'd really like to hear your impressions on DVC and DCL cruises. DW and I looked into the DVC but it looked like the redemptions required a lot of points that seemed cost prohibitive. We love cruising and while we enjoy going to WDW we would probably only do so every 4-5 years or so cruises in between. Do you have a similar impression or am I reading something wrong.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I've always heard the using your DVC points for a cruise isn't the best use of the points.

I do like DVC Member cruises. I think the extra Disney experiences, the animators stories and insights and especially the Broadway performers make the cruises special. I'll be on my 5th this September. My husband is not as enthusiastic about them, he's been on 2 with me. I've been on 3 with non DVC member friends.

However, DH is interested in next year's. We'll be on the phones trying to get through to book tomorrow!

Just wondering if a DVC cruise opens up to non-DVC cruisers?

It generally sells out on the first day it opens up for reservations. And as PP also noted it's a chartered private cruise so it doesn't show up on the DCL site.

FYI: You don't have to use DVC points to book the DVC Member cruise.

"Due to the unique nature of this special event, Disney Vacation Club has waived the policy of requiring at least one passenger to sail using Vacation Points. If Members would like to pay by using both cash and Vacation Points, individual passengers must be paid for by using all cash or all Vacation Points."

So it seems price IS a bit higher (well maybe more than a bit)....and you have to pay for the full cruise NOW. More Disney insanity. :-) So....is there anything special about this cruise? Also - does it apply to my number of cruises? Apparently they couldn't use our Castaway Club numbers to access any of our info.

We are curious to know what the dates are and where does the DVC Cruise go?

Oh, I did not know these extras were there! I feel a bit better now - should be interesting. Will the info be in the daily Navigators? Were you able to book?

Ever use points for a cruise? Worth it?

Just cruised with a couple who used 420 points for a European 7 nighter!!!

As previously noted, the member cruise is a charter so you are paying DVC when the cruise is booked.

Yes, member cruises count towards your Castaway Club status.
