DVC contract length

Since all DVC contracts expire in 2042, and the point price keeps going up, do you think a time is going to come when DVC extends the contract length on new DVC resorts? When and if this happens, will previous owners be allowed to extend theirs? Just wondering.......

This issue has been raised before and many theories have come up on how things will occur.

I believe that to sell the SSR, Disney will start a "DVC 2" with a new 50 year time frame. Doing so will allow them to keep the price high and to sell the new resort.

Many further believe and I agree that at some point down the road (with 10 years left for example) Disney will sell you an additional number of years of points. But that won't be for a while.

If they do start selling a DVC2, what will that do to the resale value of the original DVC ownership contracts?

I'm not sure why they would start at "DVC2" now. They are still selling BCV and VWL points at "current terms" not to mention the quick sell of the new BWV points (ok, I'll leave VB out of this discussion).

Unless someone sees SSR taking years and years to sell why wouldn't they just go for it? Even if it does take a while, couldn't they just keep the per point cost or drop it (i.e. Very Magical Beginnings) in 5 years?

Sandy
