I just read this on wdwmagic:

Hey guys, got a bit of info from a friend, if you spread the word, please note www.touringplans.com (it's on our news and rumors page).

Quote:
Contemporary DVC coming - North garden Wing closes Oct 1st

The new DVC at the Contemporary Resort is all but a press release away at this point as the CM's at the hotel have been informed of the project. The North Garden Wing will close to the public on October 1st. A new DVC resort will be built in its place, the details of the exact design are still fuzzy and/or up in the air though.

One possibility mentioned to the CMs was a new 15 story C-shaped building with a central waterpark/pool area like the Yacht/Beach Clubs and a walkway on the 4th floor leading to the current concourse. This would explain the markings on the ground outside the current tower suggesting some sort of northward support system expansion.

I SO hope this is true! DH and I will be first in line to do an add-on!!

I want the Villas a AK.

(And this rumor looks just like all the others... I will believe it when DISNEY says somethiing!)

At least I won't have to worry about being tempted to buy if this comes about. No appeal at all for me. I am not a monorail fan.

I hate to disappoint you, but I'll be there 1st!
Really do hope it comes to be.

I was hoping for Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is my favorite Deluxe Hotel.

Yipeee!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes :cheer2: I'm hoping so BUT won't trust it unless I hear it from DVC themselves. What better than owning at BWV's AND Contemporary near MK too!!!!!!!!! :cool1:   .... Don't think I mean anything by that comment.... Some like to be a stone throw away from the parks (that's me) and others don't... That's the beauty of DVC, RIGHT???

I love being at BCV, a stones' throw for Epcot.

However after a few hours at MK listening to parents yell at thier kids about how much this is costing them and how they should be having a good time and being run over by a stroller I am done for a few trips LOL!

If it happens it would great because that would mean less people staying at the BCV's!!! ( which we own) :rotfl2:

This is my dream resort......

I keep hoping.....

Unlike our dear CarolA, I love the Monorail, I sometimes just ride it for fun!

I love the monorail, but the Contemporary has no appeal for me. I'd rather have AKL, too.

I think it is great. I sure would like to try it once but I don't think I want to own there.

This is one of the big reasons why we are staying in the Tower this year. I have issues, I admit it, because I feel as if you are not really staying at the Contemporary unless you are staying in the Tower.

Again, I may try out the DVC room once but that will be all.

Now the Poly DVC . . . . .
I would be all over that like white on rice!

This was the first thing that crossed my mind. I am sick of worrying about booking at the 11 month window!

I've heard this rumor ... but I think I would prefer AKL as well as some of the other posters mentioned. Let's not forget that a few months ago, it was said that the Contemporary DVC was approved and would definitely happen ... but it was also said that it would not be the 'Next DVC Resort' to open.

It's only a matter of time before we know though ... SSR has gone into pre-sales for Phase III meaning that Phase II is probably all but sold out. The raising of prices and the addition of closing costs, not to mention the phase-out of the 15% discount leads me to believe they're probably trying to slow things down some. If SSR Phase III is slated to be opened by the beginning of 2007, they'll have to annouce something soon for a few reasons. Specifically, I doubt they plan to pay our vacation guides to sit around and do nothing because they have nothing to sell. Also, once they annouce it, you might be able to buy in but you're not going to have any points until the resort actually opens as they don't want to offet the balance of points to available villas. That said, it makes sense that they would annouce it before SSR is completely full up as it gives the customer two options: (1) Buy SSR and get points you can use now or (2) Buy XXX, but you have to wait awhile to use them.

I'm hoping they annouce something soon with a nice big fat benefit for buying in early. Unless it's a sweet deal, it's just not worth it imo.

We love the monorail and the MK but I don't think I would want to stay in a high rise on vacation so if this is true I hope the 15 story part isn't. :sad2:

Besides it seems to me that a 15 story building would overwhelm the CR's capacity in terms of restaurants, monorail etc. The other addons DVCs were not nearly the size of the original resorts.

I've had word that the next resort would have a much higher point spread and maintenance price than SSR.

So if CRV is the next any guesses on the point spread/buy-in cost? Do you think that studio/low season would be higher than let's say BCV? What do you think?

Would a higher point spread/higher dues deter you from buying?

IMO, if the next DVC is a monrail resort, or offers amenities that are different than the rest, it'll sell, just as all the rest have. :)
How many people who bought DVC in the beginning would've expected the point costs to be more than double by now? :confused3
"If you (DISNEY) build it, they will come" :rotfl: (And we have!!) :thumbsup2

CR is my husband's favorite resort (since he was a little boy) -- what a neat birthday gift-- a stay at CR DVC!! :cool1:

I agree 100%. Of course it will sell out in record time. No doubt about that.

I was asking if any members would not buy because of a "potential" high point chart/fees. And any guesses on what prices/points might be?
