DVC commercials on TV??!?

I have noticed over the last few days that there are commercials on our local stations advertising DVC.............this is a first!!!

anyone want to speculate on why they are advertising in the Boston area???? The commercial shows young children talking about Aruba, Hawaii, Italy etc. and then a few Disney mentions!!! Hmmmmmmm..........

Is the DVC travel show or road show (not sure what exactly they are called but they recently held some in various locations in NY state) scheduled for your area ? Probably targeting specific markets to help increase sales.

I don't know what you mean by a road show or travel show but the commericail encourages you to purchase and you can get a DVD on DVC by calling or going on the website.

In all my years of owning........I have never seen a commerical for DVC in this area.

I saw it too, on WCVB (Boston's ABC affiliate). I was really surprised. They showed one shot of SSR and one of AKV but for the most part they talked about going just about everywhere else in the world but Disney World which was finally mentioned near the end of the commercial.

They have run commercials nationally during events like the Christmas Day parade airing on ABC and during the Extreme Makeover show which often gives DVC prizes.

I seem to recall Jason Garcia from the Orlando Sentinel running a piece about a year ago when local commercials were popping up in seemingly new places. IIRC, the DVC rep he reached for comment stated that they hadn't changed their advertising budget. But I guess that doesn't mean they didn't change the WAY in which the dollars were being spent.

Could just be a seasonal thing. I've heard repeatedly that this time of year is among the slowest for sales. DVC has certainly been known to try new things when it comes to sales (regional sales centers, regional meetings, etc.)

I saw them also- I do know that the roadshow was suppose to becoming to Boston at some time but I thought it was in early October.

plus on Comcast on Demand there is a whole section about Disney and DVC.

They showed up on my cable tv here in Maryland. I can't remember what I was watching but the kids picked up on it right away. They made a comment about the days of Disney's "best kept secret" are so over!

I was at the DVC Road Show in Rochester 3 weeks ago. The lady behind me said she had seen a commercial in her area so they are probably linked. The show was a presentation for DVC members and potential members to explore the current incentives. Mostly BLT and the remaining inventory at AK.

Wow, that's cool! Thanks for posting this information. We don't live there, but my parents live up there and watch Boston TV stations. I can't wait to ask them about it. Mom's trying to talk Dad into a trip to WDW, so she might appreciate these ads.

We've had them on here in the DFW area. Of course, I *think* I've only seen them on the travel channel. I only noticed the commercials after the travel channel special on DVC. I don't know of any road shows in TX though?
