DVC Christmas gift story

As many of you know, I've been researching the purchase of a DVC contract and talking to my DH about it everyday it seems.

Eventually, my DH relented, and was finally convinced that purchasing a DVC contract might be a good idea for us. However, he was FIRM about us selling our new travel trailer first before making the leap and buying a DVC contract.

Over the next few weeks, I would see great resale contracts come up with lots of banked points and all current points available. I would say to my DH, "This is the one, and if we don't jump on it now, it'll be gone and we'll lose it to someone else." But no matter how much I whined and begged, DH would not relent about selling the travel trailer first.

So I tried selling the travel trailer, but being the month of November and winter upon us with a foot of snow on the ground, no one was shopping for travel trailers - who would be shopping for camping equipment in the winter!

December arrived, and my DH asked what I wanted for Christmas. Of course I said, "A DVC contract all wrapped up with a big bow!" Of course he said, "Dream on honey!" :rotfl:

Well, it was Christmas morning, and we opened our gifts. The kids were playing with their toys, and everyone was happy, yes me too, even though there was no DVC contract under the Christmas tree. Then my DH said, "Did you see that last present for you under the tree?" "No, I didn't see it, but I'll go look for it," I said. DH followed me to the tree, and low and behold there was one more present under the tree. I opened it and inside was a very nice, soft and snuggly blanket. Then I noticed something sticking out of it - a piece of paper. "Hmmmmm, what's this?" I thought. I opened it up, and inside was a beautiful (sarcasm intended :) ) poem written by my DH. It said:

"The DVC membership arrives
when the travel trailer drives!"

Love, your Disney family.

Yes, my hubby - the comedian! :earboy2:
Actually, I have to admit, the laugh that his note gave me was the best Christmas present I received!

That is awesome! And, tell your husband the following:

1) My wife pushed me in to it - and look who is leaving the messages on the DisBoard!

2) We have owned for 3 years and were planning our next DVC visit which is about 9 months away. We were talking about - ok - we do this Monday, then this Tuesday, etc., etc. etc. We all know good and well that it will change when we arrive - but - the anticipation is fantastic.

3) I have sooooo many friends that have just choked on timeshares. And, once you buy in to many timeshares they are worth pennys on the dollar.

The fact is that if we sold today we would make money (after 3 years). Of course, this is not an investment - but - it is good to know that I can get my money back quickly and easily if an emergency did arise.

Congratulations! I'm surprised someone didn't buy that travel trailer as a Christmas gift for their family. Hang in there. Your husband sounds like a very wise man and sincerely wants to give you what you want and at the same time doesn't want to overextend the finances and jeopardize what you already have. When you're ready, that perfect package will be there. I've seen it happen time and time again. Let me be the first to say "Welcome Home"!

HAPPY "MAGICAL" VACATIONING,
Tom :sunny:

Hope you sell the trailer soon, would like to give you a big Welcome Home. Good luck. :Pinkbounc
