DVC Chit Chat Thread

It is a bit of a gamble. For $8k I would jump on it. Probably even at 9 or 10, because the price is only going to go up from here.
Exactly! I may be a non-traditional DVC member in that I was already taking a minimum of three trips annually before purchasing and already an out of state WDW AP holder for years. If you're just looking for discounted villas every other year it probably isn't worth it to you.

If DVC offered a 10-year Sorcerer's pass for $8-10K, would you do it?

I think I would. Lock in at today's prices for a decade.
No I wouldn't. I just got my first Sorcerer's pass and we just don't travel to WDW enough to get it every year. We also go to Aulani, Disneyland, etc. Plus, I hate to say it but my husband is older and I don't know if he will be interested/able to travel 10 years from now.

I'd sure take a multi-year continental pass covering California and Florida!

I think for most DVC members, it makes sense.

We bought in low just to see how it plays out. In 2-3 years we should have a better idea if we will continue coming to Disney or we sell the points back.

I believe in taking risks and living by ā€œwhat’s the best that could happen?ā€

If it doesn’t work out, we lose a couple bucks and if it does work out, we will make memories that our children will carry with them forever.

Sorry, I went on a rant lol.

I think you just need to become a Club 33 member šŸ˜‰

I would love for them to bring back the pass that covers WDW and DLR. I honestly think that would be a game changer for VDH sales.
This wasn't actually the best deal when you ran the numbers if you could get discounted passes with DVC or FL-resident status. It also caused complications when FP+ was 60+ days in advance. There were times you'd need exceptions to renew early if you had a WDW trip 60+ days prior to your renewal. There were also reports DL GRs couldn't service the Premier Passport properly and it was better to upgrade or manage it through WDW.

The DVC merch gets me every time. A new mug, pin, sweatshirt, Christmas ornament, etc. I also love the art prints. The more recent Disney home collection items are so good.

I am a DL local and go several times a month so really have to restrain myself.

Fortunately I am not a massive fan of most Disney apparel, which helps keep costs down!
+1 to all of this (though we haven’t been going to DL more than once a month lately)…and especially +1 on the apparel, I always tell my husband he’s saved thousands on merch due to Disney’s fixation with spirit jerseys…so many general colors/themes/concepts I like but spirit jerseys looks like garbage on me…whereas I own like 3 versions of ā€œYeti’s ski schoolā€ from the Expedition Everest gift shop that are not spirit jerseys!
I'm surprised they don't offer a multi-year AP. I think there's a market for it.
I was going to joke this is what Club 33 is for…but not sure it counts as a multi year AP since you keep paying annual dues each year!

@PolyRob beat me to it, but this exists as part of the Club 33 program and it’s called a premier pass— which is confusing since they also call LLPP the same term!

Omg yes I thought I was the only one. 😭

Has definitely saved me a lot of money, though!

I purchased one and only one. It was the Star Wars Christmas Wookie Cookie. So cute. So awkward on me and the crew neck on them is uncomfortable on me, too. I cut out the neck (I cut most of my tee shirts) and wore it at the holidays for a few years. Did a closet clean out this weekend and said, ā€œI think I can lovingly release you now.ā€ Sigh.

Aulani had a peach one made of softer, almost stretchy material. I tried it on and almost bought it. The material made quite a difference for me.

My daughter has one; it’s cute on her. She usually wears it as her travel day/airplane shirt when we go.

No.

Over the last 20+ years, I have learned the hard way that any plans I have more than about two to three years out are at best aspirations. And I have had to learn this lesson more than once, which suggests I have not quite learned it yet.

There have been a lot of reasons for this. Schools change their vacation calendars. The kids have unexpected commitments to other activites while in school. Sabbaticals or job role changes change my vacation schedule. The kids have to balance time with their partners' families post-launch. One kid is less of a Disney/theme park/amusement park fan than the other. Separated for three years. Tried to reconcile for three years. Divorced.

And the list goes on.

All true, and I feel you on a lot of those. After a couple of years with an AP, I get so much value added that I don't think I'd want to be without one. I could cancel several trips every year and still get a good return on the investment. It's such a good deal relative to the cost of buying individual tickets for each trip.
