Hello all. Recent DVC owner here. I have never booked a trip before. I have a couple of questions.

1. We get 150 pts/yr, March use year. First DVC trip July '25. To book this trip, do I need to bank my points first? I will be booking at the 11 month window.

2. What we would really like to do during this trip is spend a couple of days at Vero Beach and the rest at Boardwalk (our home resort). Can/should I book the entire trip at Boardwalk initially and then modify at the 7 month window to see if I can get Vero Beach? It will be during the week of 4th of July. So could be busier than usual.

Thank you!

If the first points you get will be from 2024, then yes, you should bank the points before you book your trip. Spend some time with this thread to better understand how use year and booking work.

Understanding Use Year

Book two SEPARATE reservations for the Boardwalk - one that is for the dates that you would like to be at VERO and the other for the days you want to be at the BWV. That way, when the 7 month window opens, you can modify the BWV reservation that covers the Vero dates and not worry about possibly losing the whole BWV reservation. If you only make one BWV reservation,, you won't be able to modify it to Vero with out losing the entire BWV reservation. If the VERO dates are unavailable at 7 months, you can set up a waitlist to replace the appropriate BWV reservation should the waitlist work. If it doesn't, you can call MS and ask to have the two BWV reservations merged.

Good luck and welcome home!

Follow up question. If we can’t get the Vero beach reservation, can we combine the boardwalk reservations so we don’t get two separate rooms?

So you mean you plan on booking two rooms with the intention of moving one to Vero right? If that is a yes, then that’s correct you can call, chat or email DVC MS and ask them to combine the reservations into a single one as long as both rooms are identical type and view.

Yes, as @crvetter posted, if the Vero reservation is unavailable, you can call/ chat or email MS and ask to have the two BWV reservations combined. But that will only work if the two reservations are for the same booking category and villa size and guests the same.

DVC website is a tremendous benefit that didn’t use to exist. Once you get the hang of it, it’s fairly straightforward.

As this is your first booking, I recommend you call DVC and have them book your two reservations. They are open 7 days a week. They’re super helpful. And as you just joined they sometimes have access to rooms and dates that may not be released. The reservation will show up in your account immediately.

Welcome Home!
