DVC booking process for new owners

We're new owners... So can someone tell me about the booking process? Say we call MS to book our room. We're calling because it will involve transferred points, which we won't see online. What happens when we book? Will the CM ask me for each person's name, age, etc? What else will they need to know?
Then when it's good to go, I should leave the call with a reservation number... right?
And this I plug in to one of my MDE accounts?
Now I plug this in, what happens then? How does it match up people on the res with people on the MDE? There are different people going this time so it won't be an exact match across the board. Does it look for a name match? Or do you go pick people to link? Or does it create people in your MDE?
Then I go and buy my tickets... which I will do thru Disney direct. Upon doing this, I should see 10 unnamed tickets show up in my account, and they should say something like 7-day tickets?
I then go and assign these to people?
I've never booked room and tickets separately, so I want to be sure I have this all down so that everyone is on the room and linked to tickets... which should (correct me?) kick off a new order for Magic Bands? And open up the 60-day booking?
Is there a good sticky on this somewhere for DVC?
Thank you!

You will need names, ages of those under 18 and address(es) if different than what's on the membership.

They should give you the reservation number and should review your new point balance.

Yes.

You should review your family & friends list prior to attempting to link the room reservation.
If anyone in your travel party has their OWN MDE account, you should connect using the 'Invite to Plan & Share' prior to linking the room reservation.

Linking to MDE will try and match by name. If the name is not found, it will give the option to create a profile entry.

You will assign the tickets during the purchase process. You can re-assign tickets as long as they have never been used.

Once the room reservation is linked to MDE, there will be an pending order for MagicBands.
As long as you have the room & tickets linked to MDE, the booking window will open once you reach 60 days from check-in.

Keep records of what your points/account status is, especially if you are using transferred points. They tend to have issues with transferred points.

If you have more than one MDE account be sure to ONLY use that one account for you reservation/tickets. I have two MDEs due to family issues and DVC accounts being in different names. You are NOT allowed to move your tickets between the MDE accounts.
What I have to do is have my two MDEs but can only put the tickets and reservation into one of the accounts and order all MBs from that account.

Interesting! Didn't know this! Yeah I have a couple MDE accts to keep SDFPs going... so are you saying for each trip to be sure to make the res and put the tickets on the same one, or once I book one DVC trip on an MDE, to use the same MDE for all future DVC trips? Or can I switch to a different MDE account for a trip a year later, as long as I buy the tickets for that trip on the same account?

Buying 10 tickets I highly recommend using a ticket broker such as Undercover tourist. The savings will be noticeable for that many people.

Well, if paying face value, I'd do that... but by purchasing w Disney Gift cards and my Disney Vacation Account that I've filled for anywhere from 10%-50% off, it's cheaper to use these funds on the Disney site. That's the only reason I'd buy direct. Already since I'm not paying cash for the hotel, the only thing I can still work the system for savings on are my tickets and food.

The room & tickets will need to be linked to the same MDE account in order to make advance FP+ selections beginning at 60 days from check-in.
