IN MEMORIAM
Richard William Hyams III

In honor of long-time DIS contributor Richyams, the DVC Board will go dark for an hour on Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm.

His wife Lisa has posted details of his death on the DVC Board. Rich had a heart valve replacement and aneurysm repair in 2000 and apparently died suddenly at home this week at the age of 42.

He mainly frequented the DVC and Debate Boards during his many years on the DIS. He has been around since the beginning of the DVC Board and was even a DVC chat host for a short period of time back in 1998.

He was often controversial, usually irreverant and always had a twinkle in his eye when we could peek behind the monitor. He has had an outpouring on the DVC Board in the several posts created in his memory.

There are links on the board for those wishing to contribute to a scholarship fund for his daughter (he was uninsured due to his heart condition) and an online Guest Book available for those wishing to express their sympathies to the family.

His wife Lisa and daughter Jacqui have both posted information and photos on the DVC Board. His tag on the DIS, A Man, A Legend, A Way of Life, will be displayed with his photo on his memorial bulletin for his funeral on Sunday in Weston, Florida.

Awww, thanks Doc. That's an awesome gesture and very appropriate. Being a DVC member, I frequented that board often and was very familiar with Rich and his posts. Always made me smile. He will truly be missed. Thanks for doing this.:(

A nice tribute. I did not know him, but from what I have heard, he seems like he was a wonderful person. He will be missed by many. My thoughts are with his family.

Thanks Doc.....

I never met him, in fact I never knew what he looked like, but I am mourning him. So sad. He is missed.

Thanks Doc. What a warm and caring tribute. I think he'd like that.

I always credit Rich with pointing us in the right direction with our DVC purchase, and on our August trip I found myself chuckling as I thought of what Rich would have to say as I walked to infiniti and beyond...our room at the very end of the hall, farthest from the elevators at the BWVs. ;)

RIP Rich, and thanks for the memories.
:(

Thanks Doc. That will be a nice tribute. He is definitely missed on the DVC board.

<font color=navy>I'm so glad the DIS is going to do a tribute to Rich. He had such a strong presence here on the DIS.

What a wonderful tribute, Doc. Thank you.

:( My thoughts and prayers go out to Rich's family.:(

That is a wonderful idea...I was thinking more along the lines of a new "Rich Hyams Memorial Debate Board" (I know richyams would have liked that ;))......

Seriously, I really think that is a great, appropriate thing to do. He will be sadly missed!

Continuing to keep his family in my thoughts......

what a wonderful thing to do for someone that contributed so much to the DVC board. He will definitely be missed!
