As far as the pass discounts for immediate family members @ same address, do they count same sex domestic partners in that category?

Generally yes, as long as you both have gov't issued photo ID showing the same address, then yes. After all, they don't ask male/female couples for their marriage certificates.

If you do not have ID showing the same address, then they have asked for other documentation, even for opposite sex couples.

Just curious how they would know, or maybe they don't care, that you are "related" (some type of domestic partnership, living together, whatever) vs just two people who live at the same address, like roommates. Since you don't have the same name? Just curious since this discussion came up.

To qualify for the discount you have to both live at the same address as one of the owners on the contract AND meet the relationship test. I don't know how well they enforce the rules but the rules themselves are clear.

Really, no way to know. Just as many male/female couples opt for the wife to keep her own last name after marriage...how would DVC know? I doubt any married couples carry their marriage documents with them. But, I also doubt DVC would allow too much fraud over time...I mean, would someone change their listed "spouse" as often as most people change un-involved roommates?

If someone claims to have a new spouse with every Disney World visit, then that would raise flags, I should think.

As an aside on this topic, not having the same last name doesn't mean much. Here in Quebec, women are not legally allowed to take their husband's last names when they get married. All couples, even immigrants to the province, must keep (or revert) to their maiden names. Also, there is very little difference between a married or a common law couple here. You are considered legally bound in the same ways. While some couples here still choose to get married, there is no advantage or differentiation, so many (most?) don't.

That being said, while marital status can be proven by having a same last name or a marriage certificate in some places, it may not be possible in other places. It certainly isn't over here...

Very interesting. It doesn't bother me one way or the other, but I had never thought through the logistics before. And now I know something new about Quebec.
