Our Home DVC resorts are OKW and SS. Haven't stayed at BCV yet, but have a trip planned at end of June. Do the BCV rooms have balconies facing Epcot or the Parking lot, or both?

The Epcot views (or road views) are blocked by Soarin'. So you can't request an Epcot view anymore. We like the pool view (which also overlooks the parking area). The garden view overlooks the green areas between BCV and BC.

I think it is a DIS legend that Soarin blocks the view of Epcot. You can certainly see Soarin from some rooms but from those same rooms you can see parts of Epcot.

We've been on the Epcot side quite a few times now.

My guess is that guests were requesting Epcot view thinking they would have a drop dead view of Spaceship Earth. Although there are a relative few rooms that do have that view, most rooms on the Epcot side don't and never did. And those that do have a view of SE are the closest to the road. I think it was to squelch complaints about not seeing SE that an Epcot view request in no longer allowed.

But there are many other rooms that face Epcot and from which you can catch a glimpse or much more of Illuminations. :thumbsup2

How do you know what view you have?

We just got back from using studio 431, dedicated, huge balcony, straight in front of us (in the distance) was the top of the American Pavillion. Immediately in front of us were the woods. Lots of bunnies, and dare I say it, at least one little snake lives there.

We could see the high fireworks of Illuminations, and in the afternoon on the balcony, you were able to hear the British Invasion, not loud enough to be bothersome, just background music as we sat on the balcony.

Bobbi :)

PS. We checked in on Friday. Now, that's not a busy day for DVC point usage, but at 8:15AM, the CM chatted with us, and asked us if we would like a higher floor, and told us that she would find a nice room for us. This room did not seem to be preassigned to us. We have also checked into BWV on a Saturday at 3PM to have the CM tell us there were 2 studios we could have, and again, he said he would give us a "nice one."

Views are not reserved at BCV, they are just requests. You will not know until you check-in and get to your room.

We were just in a two-bedroom (348/350) recently. I think I saw Morocco through the trees. But we were able to sit on the patio and watch the higher fireworks from Illuminations.

We went potluck and didn't make any view requests. We ended up on the 2nd floor with a pool view. It was very pleasant and not too loud. If I did it again, I would request the same view but on the first floor. It is very convenient to slip out your patio door and hang out at the pool.

This was our view from our 1 bedroom Beach Club Villa.

Hi, Our past two stays at BCV we have been on the 5th floor and had a view of "some of Epcot". Since you can no longer request an EPCOT view is this considered a WOODS view? (because woods were what was directly in front of us!) Thanks, Joan

Kathy-What view was that considered??? I love it! I like "people watching". While my kids nap, I sit out on the balcony and enjoy! That view would be better for me than woods or pool.

Thanks!

What used to be called the Epcot view was on the other side of the section of the building that points towards Epcot, and would look towards Spaceship Earth.

I am not sure if anyone has figured out the way to request the old Epcot view, except maybe by listing which views you do not want!

I tried listing what I didn't want once....no pool view. That is the only time (other than when we need accessible rooms) that we got pool view!

I read somewhere on the DIS that listing what you don't want is risky because the assignors eyes are drawn to words like "pool" and miss the anything but or whatever. :confused3 I know my one experience is a poor sample but I've not tried that strategy since that trip.

Joan, I've had good luck just talking through the area that I prefer which for me is anything along the back or Epcot side. I do think they will uses the term woods view although I once called it swamp view. ;) I love that view as well as the fairy ring section and the section with highest #s on that side which are those closest to the road. Since this has to be about half the rooms, I've been lucky other than that one time.

BTW, one time my checkin sheet listed our view as "hole in the ground." :rotfl2: It was what we think if as woods or swamp view. :sunny:

I think I would try describing it as the area facing the entrance of the BC and/or the Ariel statue.

It could also be a called a courtyard view facing the BC but to me that could be confused with the courtyard views that face the woods and BC rooms.

It was considered a "courtyard" view from our 4th floor balcony. It sure was beautiful! :)

This was my SE view from BCV dedicated studio #555. I could also see Canada. While this villa faced the "dreaded" road, the fantastic views of Epcot & Illuminations more than made up for it. I also saw the inferno barge "burnoff" one night - no pictures but it was quite a sight and quite an explosion! :sunny:

I've had that view twice, I was lucky enough to get the same room both times on solo trips. It's ideal for people-watching, called courtyard view. I couldn't see Illuminations at all, but it was worth it to me for the people watching.

We had this view the 1st time we stayed at BCV (the summer they first opened)from our 1 bedroom. I could see the Epcot sign from my bed in the Master bedroom! I LOVED it and did not mind the ROAD at all! Joan
