There have been several posts about availability or lack there of and today I was told by MS that rooms have been removed from available DVC inventory for the guest experience team to use to relocate guests due to construction.

Checking on line shows no availability at DVC resorts for the end of November but the guest experience team has rooms at AKV, BCV, and SSR.

Just an FYI.

Does this mean one would have to call in order to get proper availability?

No, MS doesn't even know what rooms have been moved to the guest experience team, they are showing up as not available for regular DVC bookings. My point is that some of the shortage of DVC rooms can be attributed to construction.

Well I guess now we know the options that will be offered to those w/ current WL stays booked on points. f I had a WL stay booked I'd be on the phone trying to grab my preference of those choices before all that's left is SSR, just sayin' & no disrespect to SSR, it's just not my first choice and if I was moving to AKV I'd want savanna view before those are all gone and all that are left are standard view - wonder if the movees will even have that choice.

On the flip side, I only need a crash pad for the night in mid-Nov I'm going to MVMCP, so the freeing up of VWL rooms has been a bonus for me! I booked just this weekend and there was plenty of availability.

Being selfish, I hnope that they aren't automatically moving point reservation cancellations to the guest experience team inventory. I'm still hoping for one more night at the Poly in early December. It's in the middle of my desired stay. If I knew for sure that they were doing that, I'd adjust my "hopes" and work on getting excited for a long home resort stay!

Well, that may explain some things. I've waitlisted and have been trying to add 11/13 at SSR to 4 previously booked nights for over a month and a half now. In my past experience, I would have gotten that 5th night.

I wonder how long they will be doing this? Do you think fall 2016 bookings will also be relocated?

Disney only does what they really feel that they have to do. IMO the initial phases of construction will be jack hammering, dirt digging and moving and maybe some pile driving. It will create some noise so they want to reduce the number guest complaints during this time. Later they will let you book at VWL just like they did at PVB.

At least we know the points chart won't be reallocated for 2016/2017. But that is my concern going forward. I would think if there are any changes to the points chart we will know by January.

Yes pile driving and excavator mounted demolition hammers are likely to be going on since I understand that in addition to the bungalow foundations they likely are taking out the existing pool to enlarge it and the room close to those areas may no be much fun unless you like that sort of stuff. I am guessing that there will be some regular hotel rooms that also will not be used during the same timeframe

Bungalows, we don't want no stinking bungalows. Wilderness lake side cabins are what we want. :-)

Maybe not. If they learn anything from the Poly point chart they will make the cabins point equivalent to a grand villa. My question is how many nights in a cabin will 300 points get me?

I would be a very happy camper if the existing cabins at FW were remodeled and some were converted to DVC. That's been our favorite place to stay far but the layout is a bit awkward and the décor is a bit dated. All of this for low points per night of course.

I'd bet I could get a lot for my little VWL contract should I try to sell it. But I'm not and I'll use those points at AKV or OKW I guess. Not happy about the changes at VWL at all.

The planned project at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, when completed, will be the 14th Disney Vacation Club development and the second at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Current plans call for the resort to feature deluxe accommodations, including waterfront cabins.

Yeah - looks like it will be a separate entity. This shouldn't be much of a surprise, as this is the only way they can get away with charging $170 per point. Interesting!
