Anyone else see this? Now that we're RCI, the WDW DVCs are available through the Govt. Employee Travel Opportunity site (getravelop.com). It's open to all employees and retirees of federal, state or local governments. Sign up is free. If you work for ANY form of government or retired from one, take a gander. You don't have to be signed up to look. It's mainly for shorter date extra capacity, but not necessarily.

The DVC weekly rates are in the $2-3k range (unusually high for this site - most are in the $300-900 range), BUT the "Nightly Getaway" DVC rates (under a week) range from $80-$92 per night. (They're under Florida/Lake Buena Vista.) This probably includes larger units, but I haven't called to check. The Nightly Getaways are up for 3/4/09 and for the next 90 days, availability permitting.

Now that some of us may be running a few points short, this is an FYI for DVC government folks who might need a night or two and don't want to spend big bucks for that extra night. (It's cheaper than an add on!)

I'd bet they know. That's probably why the weekly rates remain high. The "cheap" nightly rates are only for 90 days out or less.

Yes, local (city, county, twp, etc.) as well as state and federal gov't employees are eligible.

There are unbelievable prices listed for DVC! Beach Club $90/night, BWV $80/ night, VB,HHI,are also on the list for great prices. Now I don't know what size accomodations these are for, but if one could snag up to 3 days for these prices, even for a studio....good deal! And I shall be looking!:goodvibes Thanks again to the OP for posting!

I was able to locate the weekly rates, but I'm not seeing daily rates. What am I doing wrong?:confused3 This would be great if I could snag some of these rates! Thanks!

Click on "Nightly Getaways" for a (long) list of daily rates. You have to call to book these.

Wow. Those nightly rates are way below Disney's rates. I'll have to tell my brother about it. His son has been wanting to stay at Beach Club and at those low prices, what a deal.

A few years ago RCI was listing Marriott's Cypress Harbour super cheap on that site, but when it was mentioned on Tug, I think Marriott asked them to stop and cheap Marriott Vacation Club weeks disappeared from the site. I think Marriott Vacation Club totally disappeared from that site. I wonder if Disney knows that RCI is pricing them that cheap? That is a good deal, but it saddens me as an owner to see DVC's brand cheapened by RCI.

If DVC wants to bring it up with RCI, that's fine with me. I'd like to see the brand protected, too. But I seriously doubt that we'll see the resorts overrun by $90-a-night guests. I'd bet there aren't all that many DVC nightly stays available through RCI at any given time (and at less than 90 days), and it's a pretty good way to fill the odd empty nights here and there that might not be filled any other way. It's better than leaving villas empty.

And don't forget, the weekly DVC stays that are offered on GETO aren't "cheap". They may be a tad less than CRO rates, but they're all in the $2300-$6000 range. (A 2-bd at SSR 4/10-4/17 is $6200+.) That pretty much protects the brand.

Interestingly, these resorts are not in the rci.com Nightly Stay list at the moment. Usually, getravelop is a subset of rci.com

I wonder if someone goofed...

I bet it was a goof.

Oh, well, if some people were able to book it before it got pulled, good for them.

At the bottom of the Nightly Getaways intro page, it says "Resort Rentals LLC, Parsippany, NJ". Is this something separate from the regular RCI? Maybe they were negotiated for GETO on a different basis?

But it says the same thing on the first page, too. So I have no idea.... Maybe it WAS a goof.

It might still be on getravelop---I didn't look there. I only looked at RCI.

All of the resorts (WDW-BCV, BWV, AK, SS, OKW) are all still there on getravelop as well as HHI and VB. Still all those same low rates!:cool1:

Interesting. I'm guessing, then, that either WDTC negotiated this to move last-minute cash inventory, or someone at RCI goofed.

Could go either way, given the state of Central FL tourism and the competence of the RCI IT staff. ;)

If you book through this site, are you still eligibile for ME? May be a really dumb question but I have no idea how RCI works. Thinking of cancelling our 40% off military stay and booking this instead--we have 1 night at the Contemporary booked before our May stay at BCV.

On the other hand...what about the small print that says, "prices starting at..." and "additional taxes and fees apply..."--could add considerably to the low nightly cost?
