DVC at the Poly, what does the future hold......

When they add more DVC to the Poly, and they are going to, do you think they will build more rooms or convert more current rooms? Do you think that there might be a chance that the entire resort may become DVC at some point?

Where did you hear that they were going to add more DVC to the Poly? I've never heard any rumors of that happening. I don't think there is any chance of the Poly ever becoming an all DVC resort. There really isn't much room to build anything else there unless they build "up" instead of "out".

Tikiman said so. And you can bank on what he says!

Well that's good enough for me -but I highly doubt it would become all DVC. There are wayyy too many Non-DVCer's that are in love with Poly. Although in Disney's eyes it probably doesn't really matter. I'm DVC and we love the Poly -I can definitely see a stay there in our future.

It's all about profit. If Disney makes more money converting resorts, all resorts will be converted. It has been said that the Poly DVC project is intended to convert Poly cash guests to DVC members. Selling DVC contracts gives Disney the money now while locking in repeat guests for 50 years per contract. You can see why Disney loves the product.

Ok. I must have missed it when Steve reported that. Thanks. However, I think he would be the first person to admit you can't always "bank on what he says". Keep in mind he is sometimes given incorrect information or information that changes as plans change. I hope this is one of those times. I would hate to see the Poly become all DVC.

I doubt it will become all DVC. The original plans had a new building near the TTC and a new building near the wedding pavilion with another pool. I would bet on a new building somewhere, most likely 5 or 6 stories like VGF.

He did not state that the whole resort will become DVC, that is my speculation, but rather that more DVC will be added. He knows more, but not allowed to say at this point.

I believe it is more cost effective to turn existing rooms into DVC than build new ones.

Overall, there's not much room to build more buildings. The east pretty much runs right into the TTC now. The only place I can see maybe adding a new building in between the Spirit of Aloha and Fiji.
As for converting existing Poly buildings to DVC.......who knows. As long as there is a big demand for DVC, then I wouldn't take anything off the table.
If Steve knows or can say anything about all this, I'd be interested in what he has to say.

A DVC standard contract for 100 points for 42 years would be $16,500 - or about $400 per year to WDW. The rack rate for a single night is higher than that.

Remove the parking lot and build a parking structure. Seems like they are always finding ways to squeeze in more at Disneyland.

I doubt they'll remove it anytime soon. They just built it, or are finishing building it right now. It's for the DVC buldings.

Yes, but they can book the DVC for cash and charge more than the hotel rooms.

I think, if they do add on to Poly, it won't be for years. Their next project seems to be adding more rooms to Wilderness Lodge.

As I recall, the specific hint from Steve aka Tikiman was he bought into DVC at Poly because he's Tikiman and it's Poly, but also because, based on what he knows but can't say, that he feels comfortable that as his family outgrows studios, other options will come to exist.

So. The hint strongly suggests there'll be 1BRs somewhere in the future.

I highly doubt they will convert all of Poly to DVC. There is certainly no precedent for this and I believe cash resort sales are still big business. I would love to see some 1-bedrooms, though!
