DVC at Contemporary: End of free Valet?

You know, if they ever built a DVC resort on the Contemporary property, I bet they would have to get rid of the free valet parking perk for DVC members. Think about it. This is a perk that doesn't even require you to be staying at a hotel--just have your DVC membership. Can you imagine the potential increase in DVC members driving to MK (currently the one park where people recommend that you don't drive because of the distance of parking from the MK plus having to negotiate the TTC) if they could free valet at Contemporary and walk to the park from there?

Perhaps on this one they would just restrict the valet parking to actual resort guests. Really, do you think DVC people don't valet park at WL and take the boat over to avoid the same parking problems? I'm sure many do the same at BC or Boardwalk for Epcot and the Studios.

Seeing as they just announced a complete rehab of the CR, I doubt they will then tear down part of it to build a DVC section.

Why would you bother driving to the place anyhow Disney transport works great we get to our resort park the car and take the bus everywhere. We also never use valet as I still remember how to park my car and we are fine with walking to the resort from the parking lot even with 3 kids LOL.

I for one, would never park at VWL to catch a boat to CR to walk to MK. Even if timed perfectly, you are looking at a minimum of 30-35 minutes to accomplish this.
Not much more than parking at TTC and transporting over.

I think the idea of a DVC resort at Contemporary is incredibly stupid, will not happen in any forseeable time frame (IMHO). Oh wait, that was already said.

You know, jade, I totally agree with you (as posted on the other thread). The reason this actually came to mind is that there has recently been a thread on the transportation board that I participated in about parking problems at CR and surly guards not letting people come in to park for their PS's. Just thought (notice the wink on the post) that it might be just one more reason why the CR rumor is either stupid or misplaced, LOL.

DVC owners will be aging along with the resorts as we keep moving towards 2042 --perhaps the thought is that we will need to be at a place like CR since we won't be mobile enough to travel. The DVC valet parking perk will soon evolve into designated handicapped parking lots for DVC members as we become less and less mobile!

DVC owners will be aging along with the resorts as we keep moving towards 2042 --perhaps the thought is that we will need to be at a place like CR since we won't be mobile enough to travel. Maybe, LOL! But I think any handicapped parking issues will drowned out by the incredible outcry over the lack of handicapped accessible rooms at the DVC resorts.

Disney is putting alot of money into CR - so it won't (in my now opinion) become part of DVC.

they are really going to upgrade this resort - it will be a show place again.

CR has alot of conventions - (this is why they are doing the rehab) - so it does not have alot of room for others.

I always bring my PS reservation number when I am trying to park at any of the MK resorts.

I personally disagree. While I think Disney transportation works OK to the parks, it's not great. And it is horribly resort to resort. We drive everywhere turning a 45-60 minute issue into 10-15 minutes and I'm in control. The only time we use the Disney transportation is when we split up or go from one resort to another. It's nice to have the option but I'd much rather drive.

I'm with Dean on this one. Others often say that they don't want to drive on their vacation. Well being crammed on a bus with sweaty tired people is not my idea of vacation. I'd rather be in control like Dean said.

I agree. Its also nice to be able to venture offsite now and again to shop and eat.
