DVC Apps for Iphone?

How about some apps for Android or Blackberry??

Hear, hear!

Other than the Touring Plans app, Lines, I don't know of any others.

Since Verizon is so heavily invested in Android, I would think the official Disney/Verizon app, Mobile Magic, would be available soon.

Hopefully, they will get it out before our next trip in Jan!

Update:

After a little bit of research it seems that people almost unanimously prefer Lines to Mobile Magic.

Also, and this is a biggie, it seems that the MM app is tied to GPS and you can't get info on wait times etc if you are not in a park and you can't get info on parks other than the one you are in.

People are liking the app, but it was not designed for smart phones, at least not ones as advanced as the Droids, so I am not going to worry too much about not having it.

I sent an email to Verizon inquiring about it.

It would be nice to get an updated version with more features for more capable phones.

I am actually developing an Android points calculator. It's just about done, but there's a lot of data entry which I dread, and I've been procrastinating.
This thread has pushed me to finish it though :thumbsup2

Someone might be teaching himself android programming by writting one... :rolleyes1

Cool. Let me know how that goes for you. I taught myself iPhone programming. Not sure I want to dip my toes into Android development (never learned Java along the way)....

The last time we were at Epcot we were asked if we would be willing to test a device that provides wait times, park and event hours, ride information, maps, and other neat features. It was on a cell phone sized device and used GPS to locate you.

We used it for about three hours and completed the feedback report. Interesting technology that could easily become an app.

Heard about this too. The phones were HTC Eris (android phones). Here's hoping they will not make it exclusive this time.

I would soo love some apps for my android (Hero). I currently use Ridehopper for my park wait times.

For our airline, hotel, restaurant, car rental reservations, etc. we use Tripit. I usually start the trip on TripIt then share it with (even giving some people editting capabilities). We can all pull up the trip on our phones (even Blackberries).

Very easy to use.

Also have E Ticket, Undercover Tourist, DVC Planner, WDW Trivia, Wait times, & WDW guide.

Yeah! Thank you, Grim!:cool1:

It's great to see the interest here in Droid Apps! :goodvibes

It's so nice that Android uses an open platform. The Android Marketplace has been growing at 10,000 apps per month. Hopefully, we will soon see more Disney apps.

Just an FYI.

I sent an email to Verizon asking about Mobile Magic on Android.

Here is an excerpt:

"At this time, we are unable to state if/when Disney Mobile Magic will become available for use with the Android operating system as no information has been given. We understand and sincerely apologize for any frustration and would like to encourage you to sign up for email updates so you can receive information regarding our new products and services. "

I realize that Verizon does not write the app and whether it gets ported to Android is up to Disney since they did, but I thought that Verizon might have some idea.

I thought incorrectly.

Hey-

How is that app coming???

The DVC Planner app for iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad has just been updated to version 3.0.

Those using iOS 4.0 and above will be able to create and view calendar events from within the app. There is also a contracts section where people can enter in and email their contract data. There's also a resorts section and a guide section.

We use D Point as our DVC app. We chose it based on the positive reviews. It allows you to input your different contracts, gives banking deadlines for your different contracts, important dates, ie., 180 days before, 90 days before, 30 days, 11 months, 7 months, etc. It breaks down your points per day and the seasons, forward via email etc. We'd love it if we could find a variation of Caskbill's program for the iPhone.

VersaEdge has a plethora of free and pay Disney apps. They have an app "Disney World Magic Guide' for $4.99 which includes all the freebies plus dining info in one app.

I recently read about a contract Disney has with Gowalla, something about collecting virtual pins and stamps to trade and earn by visiting places at Disney. I am not sure how it works but think you have to be at the Disney location to collect the Disney pins and stamps and than can trade them and buy them but right now I can only do it with things around my location as it is location based by some form of GPS. Looks like it could be bif and its downloadable for Android, iphone, and blackberry. Anyone know more about this?

Yeah, DVC Planner app did this first.
