I will be going to the world on Oct 31st with my family 2 Adults, 3 Disney adults and a child. I plan on getting APs for all of us this visit. Instead of waiting to purchase our tickets when we get there, and also spreading out the nearly $3000 for the tickets, I am thinking of buying them in advance.

My question is: Do I just call member services to purchase an AP voucher then redeem it when we get to the park? Also, I was thinking of buying one a month to spread the cost over time, do the ticket prices usually go up in August? APs included.

Not sure about redeeming the voucher part but when I called MS about buying last year, they said yes, you buy the World ones through them (they can't process DLR ones) and they send a voucher that doesn't have an expiration date (I seriously considered buying one for our trip in December last June but we had other tickets to purchase).

Historically the price hike came in July or August, but in 2011 it came in mid-June with only a few days warning. It might happen again given that they hike DL & WDW prices at the same time and with Carsland opening June 15, I'd guess potentially before that date ... and yes, the price hikes for tickets and APs tend to be simultaneous.

I bought my 2 DVC AP's through the link on the member wesite last June before the price went up. I redeemed them at DTD beside the toy store in December. No wait at DTD when we got in that night and i was ready to go the next morning. It was very easy.

In the section titled 'How to Purchase a Pass', click on 'Walt Disney World Ticket Store'.

You can also buy tickets through on discound ticket broker like Undercover tourist then up grade them to AP's. That would allow you some extra savings.
