I typically buy my APs in person but I want to be able to buy a DDE card (mine is expired) before I get to WDW. Is the DVC AP bought on the DVC website the same where you get a voucher in the mail that is good until you activate it and then you get 365 days of use from that point? Also can you check AP rates on the regular WDW site with a voucher? And can you order a DDE card with just the voucher?

I am planning to go in Mar 08 to AKV. I want to buy a DVC AP and a DDE membership. So if I order my AP now, I am OK because the voucher is not activated until I go the first time. What about the DDE card? Can I get that early as well, or does it become effective when ordered?

The DDE becomes activated when you order it. We went to WDW last June. I ordered my APs early, but waited until early June to order my DDE. It came in the mail the day before we left - perfect timing! If it does not come to you in time, you can pick up a temporary card when you arrive. I think they suggest you order your DDE about 3 weeks before your trip, but mine arrived in about 10 days or so.

If I decide to use points + dev points for a stay at POLY, what are my best options for dining?

Get AP?

If you stay at the Poly (or any other non-DVC resort) on points, the Dining Plan is not an option.

Your DVC membership offers some discounts. You'll need your membership card to claim them and most are for lunch. There are a few for dinner (mostly in Downtown Disney & I think maybe Marrakesh in EPCOT). Check the Members' website for specifics.

If you have an AP or PAP, you may order the Disney Dining Experience card. IT costs $65 and is good for 12 -13 months from the date you order it, depending on when you order it. That will give you a 20% discount off food and beverage purchases (including alcoholic beverages) at most on site Table Service restaurants. Selected lounges and Counter Service locations (very few CS locations, though) also accept the discount card.

I ordered mine through the DVC website and I got a will cal certificat and I can't log in to the website for AP. So make sure you get a voucher and not a will call certificate.

So, If I was going to POLY in April 08 and then planning a Christmas or Thanksgiving trip at end of 08, and then maybe Feb 09 trip, I would buy AP and DDE in March?

Yes, that will work - you'll be able to use the same DDE card for all three trips.

Now say you order the DDE card early like a month before you actually get the AP and activate it at Disney. Now a year later you have to renew the DDE and pay for it. What happens if you don't renew the AP a month later? Does the DDE work for the rest of the year since you already paid, or do they stop it if your AP does not renew and send you a prorated refund for the DDE that you would no longer be elligble to have since your no longer an AP holder? :surfweb:

I just wanted to echo cgbsilver@hotmail.co's point that if you need the numbers to order a DDE card etc. using your DVC AP, you'll need to pay the fee to get them mailed to you when you order the APs. If you choose "will call" you'll only get an online certificate that you print and then show (with ID and DVC Member card) to get your actual AP at WDW.

Can I use any more acronyms & abbreviations :)

sooooooooooo
i ordered our DVC AP's with "will call".
will we get activated AP's or vouchers upon pick-up?
we don't plan on using them immediately (might not use them at all this trip...long story ;) ), so i was hoping to get the vouchers. (fyi, i asked WDW ticketing, & the CM said she "thought" we would get vouchers).

You must have either a voucher or a valid AP in hand when you order the DDE card. I believe you can continue to use the DDE card until it expires, even if your AP has expired in the meantime. I've never been asked to show my AP when I use the DDE card and I've never heard of anyone else being asked to produce a valid AP or voucher either.

So what is the advantage of ordering the AP through the member web-site?:confused3
If I do this tomorrow, they have my money from now, until I activate it at MS in November;) .
Since I'm staying at BWV, can I just go to MS at EPCOT, and buy them there the first day?
:offtopic: but...
Clair_ont, we will be at AKV March 08 too.
Do you have your flights booked yet?

The only reason we ever order ours through MS is to avoid an unexpected price increase, which we know, are pretty hefty these days.

The reason I order my AP in advance is so that I can purchase the DDE card and have it arrive in time for my trip. The DDE office is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. If I waited until arriving at WDW to purchase the AP (I usually arrive on a Sunday) I wouldn't be able to purchase the DDE card until first thing Monday morning. They deliver temporary cards to Epcot late in the day so I wouldn't have the DDE card in hand until 5pm Monday. I would lose out on the meal discounts for all of Sunday and half of Monday.

Like Muushka, I have also ordered APs online to beat a price increase. My AP doesn't expire for a few months but when word got out that ticket prices were going up in early August, I went online and ordered a new AP. I had been planning to order some MNSSHP tickets anyway so I ordered everything at the same time to save on mailing charges.

Could someone please point me to the place to order an AP on the member website? I've been looking around and just can't find it!

Log on; the first page "Welcome XXX Family" - scroll to bottom. There's a box "Year of a Million Dreams - become a Walt Disney World Passholder - Learn More" click on that box and it'll bring up the info! HTH! :)
