This might not be the best place for this but I have a question about TIW. Can I purchase that the day I get my AP? We are not going to get our PAP until the day we arrive and I didn't know if I could buy that at the same time?:thanks:

Yep, same time, same place, same Cast Member. :) You can get it at any Guest Services location.

As I understand it, the TIW card can now be purchased at any Guest Services location - same as the APs. It seems that we should be able to buy them at the same time then. (The DDE card was once a more involved purchase - had to be ordered some time in advance.) I am hoping to buy these both simultaneously next week (at the DTD Guest Services location.) Someone please let us know if alternate plans are in order.

A friend of mine bought both at the International Gateway to Epcot.

I got my AP at MK - well, the TTC. They sent us into MK to guest services for the DDE card. I'm not sure if we could have gotten our AP at the MK gate somewhere and avoided the extra travel.

Last July at Epcot main gate I exchanged my voucher for my AP and then bought the DDE, now TiW card. Very fast and painless. It took all of 6 mins.

Yes - I got my DVC discounted AP at MK guest relations, along with the DDE (now TiW) card.

We purchased our APs & TiW at the GS location at DTD -- almost no wait -- very simple. SUPER helpful CM -- even helped us get dinner reservations with Cinderella!

What exactly is a TIW card. I know it means Tables in Wonderland but what exactly does it do and how much does it cost and how long is it good for???

If you have APs it is $60/yr; if you are a FL resident it is $85/yr.

You then get 20% off most table service restaurants. You can see a complete list at allears -- but, it automatically adds an 18% tip.

We used it for the first time during our Thanksgiving trip -- compared to the Deluxe Meal Plan that we did over the summer -- it saved us about $800.

Of course, we didn't have nearly as much food. No appetizers, few deserts.

We'd generally eat breakfast at our villa -- carry a snack -- eat one meal in the parks and another back at the villa.

It also give you a 20% discount on adult beverages.

We are thinking of trying the new CS Meal Plan that starts in January when we go this summer and using our TiW for any table service meals we want to do. This would keep us from having to do so many meals at the villa and we wouldn't have to carry a snack with us.

Overall -- TiW is a good value -- once you pass $300 bucks in food & beverages -- it pays for itself. You also get a little more flexibility. I have some "adult" kids per DDP guidelines that were able to order off the kids menu using the TiW -- so that saved $ and made them much happier.

Hope this helps.

I have an additional question: Is the TIW card good for exactly one year like the AP is, or does it work on a different calendar?

Melissa

I think it works from the date of purchase? I'm not 100% sure about that though.

We bought ours the week of Thanksgiving and the card itself says it doesn't expire until 12/31/2009.

I was wondering if it expired 365 days from purchase or if it expired at the end of that month, giving you slightly more than 1 full year. Based on your experience it sounds thike that is the case. I hope it is, because then I will be able to squeeze 3 trips out of one card!

The TiW cards expire at the end of the month. We got ours on 9/18/08 and it expires 10/31/09.

Just a note. I bought my AP at Thunder River and they were not able to do the TiW card at that guest services location. :confused3 No known reason according to the CMs. I believe all the other guest services work though.
