I just saw this tread over on the theme park board:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2244475

Looks like if you renew your AP within 30 days it is good for 15 months now, but doesn't say anything about the DVC AP.

Was wondering if anyone heard anything yet.

My AP expires in Nov and was deciding between renewing or just getting new one when I am down in Dec. This will totally sway decision.

Thanks

I originally thought they wouldn't offer this to us, since we get a decent break on the price. But, if they offer it others who get discounts as well, like Fl residents, then it should be offered to us as well. Sure would make my trip next year easier on the budget. I always have to renew for my Dec trip since my AP expires on Nov 29!!

Well, I would feel better if in the wording in the announcement of the AP renewal policy, they specifically mentioned DVC APs also.

This policy may actually get us to buy APs. Since we go once a year I was going to get 10 day non expiring hoppers but this will definatly get me to think twice about that. Heck I told DH that we would actually to the parks this year since we were taking a year off and only doing Universal. I might buy them before we leave and do a night or two in Epcot or MK.

I was thinking do you think excluding DVC APs or in other workds not listing them is a sign that they are going to do away with the DVC AP discount?

The original thread said this only applies to renewals, not new AP's.

There have been rumors that a price increase is coming in August. I assume if they do it, it will also take effect on Aug 2nd. I hope we get our usual 24 hours notice of the increase this weekend so we can decide whether it's a better deal to buy a new AP voucher now at the current price or renew an AP later after the price increase but with a 15-month expiration, assuming that the DVC discount is included in this new offer.

I don't know if this is a "renewal policy change" but perhaps a limited time offer.

The original post made by a cm lsaid it was a policy change with no listed expiration so there for making it more appealing to me to buy aps but then again the policy change notice he received did not state dvc aps so it may be a moot point.

I can't believe that they would commit to making renewals good for 15 months ongoing. That would in effect give you a free AP every 4 years. My bet is there be an expiration date to the offer, perhaps to the end of the year. We'll see when the official announcement comes out.

I called disney ticketing and they had heard nothing about this. Anyone else have more info?

I am hoping that since we weren't specifically excluded (like the Epcot after 4p / Water Park AP / DQ AP) that it will apply to us as well.

I just talked to a CM who tried to find out if the extra months apply to renewals for DVC annual passes and he could not give me an answer. He seemed to think it might not as our passes are not mentioned in the list of those included. He tried to call ticket services while he had me on hold and could not get through. He gave me their number and suggested I try to contact them directly to get an answer. I would rather have the longer ticket and pay the $20 increase but if I am not going to get the 15 months by waiting until tomorrow I would rather renew today and save the money today.

Off to see if I can get a straight answer.

Buy the renewal voucher today and renew your AP with it in the future no matter what the policy is. When you buy the voucher doesn't matter. A voucher purchased before the price increase will still be good to renew your AP under the new policy after August 2.

I think only the two of us did this. I too bought my renewal AP today with my disney rewards points and cc. I've always done it this way. My AP expires in october and I bought my renewal certificate today. I just turn in the certificate when I renew. Done it this way for the last 3 years with no problem.

So you guys think if you HAVE the voucher bought at today's price, when you go to "redeem it" in Oct. it will be good for 15 months?

I'm not sure that they will not go by the purchase date & you would not get but 12 months.

How'd you do? Right now as no one in the Disney organization has experience with these extended renewals I think you'd either need to talk to a manager who helped develop the policy or the programmer who's encoded the system according the the rules he was told.

As far as DVC renewals being included with the program, I'd think Disney would definitely extend it to us. One problem Disney has with us DVCers is that by going so often we find other ways to spend (or save) our money than by going into the parks & buying their merchandise and food there.

So I had initially called the number on my annual pass renewal notice that came in the mail to remind me that I had to renew soon. I spoke with a guy who could not give me the answer I needed and could not get through to ticketing to get the answer. He gave me a number for ticket services so I could contact them directly. I finally got through and spoke with someone named Leah. She informed me that this offer does apply to the DVC annual pass renewals. I then double checked with her that if I wait and buy them tomorrow at the higher price that I will get the extra months. She said yes. So I am taking a chance and waiting to buy them after the price increase goes into effect.

They add the 3 months on to the end of your AP...mine expires on Nov 29, so when renewing it, it should then expire on Feb 29. It is only for renewals, not for new AP purchases.
