DVC AP Discount?

What, did you think all those amazing announcements at D23 were going to be free? Sure, go ahead and sell your DVC contract, Disney or someone else will be more than happy to snatch it up from you. Disney vacations are a luxury, not an entitlement for anyone, even DVC members. If you cant afford it, someone else can.

my apologies but imo that's Bull nonsense.
Disney is not giving me a damn thing. I paid for it. Where are all these "amazing" things announced at D23?? Oh yeah, they are 5 years down the road, they've been rumored for longer than that. I don't know about you but I don't tend to pay for stuff I'm not getting.
The problem is Disney is the one with an entitlement issues. I PAY luxury prices and Im getting a crappy product. YES when I give a business my money I AM MOST defintely entitled to what they promise.
When I pay 4 seasons prices and get motel 6 quality, yes I get salty.
When I purchase my Mercedes, yeah I feel "entitled" to the better luxury than a Yugo.
You raise the prices on products anywhere from 17% to 50% (TIW cards are now 50% more) yep, I got big entitlement issues and proud of it.

My dvc membership gets me a discount room (not even going to go into the maintenance and upkeep issues there).
My park passes are supposed to get me the quality experience in the parks. They have raised the prices without offering any thing of value for that cost. I mean except a cd

Nobody says you have to pay for or buy anything it is your choice, if you don't like the product don't purchase it, plain and simple

Hey I definitely agree, but what I donot agree with is the insinuation that because I or other members speak out against rising prices coupled with declining value that we some how feel "entitled" to something I can't afford or that Disney owes me low prices.

Now evidently some people accept whatever a company serves them quietly and without complaint. I'm not one of them

Whether it Disney park tickets, ice cream that is no longer a full 1/2 gallon or rising property taxes while devreasing services. I don't like being ripped off.

I can't imagine anybody who likes to be ripped off but the fact of the matter is that any company like Disney or the local grocery store can and will do whatever they please because people will continue to pay the price. As stated previously, somebody will pick up where others leave off or stop paying/purchasing because to them it may be acceptable.

but you know some hting Chris, even big company's like Disney sooner or later find out that they are not infallible. Do you remember "new coke" lol, coco-cola tried to force that nonsense down the consumers throat and within 3 months their sales plummeted and they got rid of the crap in a ny second. Everybody and their mama swore that the giant coke would never blink.

I don't know if you are a cruiser but carnival cruises experienced the same thing. Their quality kept decreasing and decreasing to the point where they had to quickly revamped because they became known as the cheap cruise with lousy food and sales decreased.

now whether or not these prices is the proverbial "straw that breaks the camels back" is yet to be seen. Disney has a lot of weapons in their arsenal. right now it's confined to AP prices, I do feel the chorus of voices is growing concerning the state of their parks and since I'm selling my dvc, I'm glad there is a market for it. Generally I don't make financial decisions based on what a mega corp does but just because "someone" else will accept the conditions still does not mean the vocal few cannot make a difference

That sounds like something Walt would have said…..NOT. I would love to see Universal or Discovery Cove offer DVC member discounts. It would be nice to see Universal set up bus transportation loop from DVC resorts to universal. Maybe an app could provide actual bus arrival times. Competition will bring Disney pricing down to earth…it would be great to see options offered to DVC members.

I'd like in-room character meets and free deluxe DDP for DVC members

Universal has connections with 50+ hotels that transport guests. The guests have spending money and Universal (ranked #2) wants to dethrone Discovery Cove as the #1 ranked Florida vacation destination. I’m not sure if Disney timeshare resort could legally monopolize guest transportation.

I read somewhere on the boards that the DVC discounts have been taken, but haven't seen anything concrete to confirm it and don't necessarily trust everything I read. Any truth to it? Will we still received 10% discounts on some merchandise and few food locations? In the past we haven't bought TIW because most of the places we choose to eat honor a DVC or AP discount. If that has changed, I may reconsider TIW.

Just a rumor with no foundation in the truth.

Sorry, this might have been answered already. If I buy an annual pass now and activate it, I know its good for 1 year, however, I would like to renew it next year in October, but the next trip after I renew won't be until Jan 2017. Can I hold onto the pass renewal voucher Until Jan 2017 before I activate it?

A renewal just adds an additional year to your current pass so say you buy an annual pass today the expiration date would be Oct 13, 2016. Then if you renew the expiration date would become Oct 13, 2017. If you didn't want your next pass to start until January of 2017 then you would have to purchase a new one and would not renew.

My AP expired 9/23/15- so I have 30 days to renew (have to decide soon) I wanted to renew to the Gold pass but even after linking my DVC membership to my MDE account, the only option for renewal is the Platinum and Platinum Plus and it doesnt apply the DVC discount for Platinum. So is it not possible to take a previous 365 day pass and renew to the gold pass?

You can not do a renewal online & get the DVC Member Renewal Rates. You have to call DVC MS to process the renewal in order to get the DVC Member renewal rates.

So it sounds like there have been several confirmations now that un-activated DVC AP vouchers will be honored at the platinum level, no blackout dates, including photo downloads. I was originally planning to activate our DVC AP vouchers for our trip coming up in late November, but now I'm wondering if I should SAVE the vouchers for future use, and instead buy new Gold APs to use for this trip, since our next two trips won't coincide with any blackout dates. I would be shelling out a chunk of change (we'd need 4 tickets). But at the rate they keep raising prices, maybe it would make sense to keep these 4 vouchers in the safe for a while. Or is that nuts?
