Hello, My DVC Annual Pass is going to expire the end of June. If I renew the pass, is it effective following my present expiration date or does the ‘renewal‘ pass not become active until I go to a park for the first time? My second question is, if the pass becomes active immediately following my current pass expiring, what is the benefit to the renewal vs waiting until I am going to be on property (not until February). I am concerned about wasting all those months as a passholder knowing I am not going to be in WDW until February. Thanks for any direction you can share.

Think of an AP renewal like a magazine subscription renewal. It just picks up where the old AP left off. So yes, you will effectively "waste" all of those months but if buying a muti-day ticket for your February trip is close to the renewal price, then price wise it may be to your advantage to renew since there have been no indications as to when AP sales will return. You can always wait until 30 days after expiration to decide and maybe we will know for sure when/if AP sales will happen.

Thanks Marionnette - so many changes this year... I feel like I am unsure about everything! LOL. Have a great day!

I apologize if this has been addressed already, but in the past, my aunt has upgraded her day passes to annual passes if she thought it was going to be beneficial. My question:

Our next trip is for fives nights in the middle of October. I know there’s no way to know if a day pass will be allowed to be applied to an annual pass because, technically, those aren’t available for new purchasers. But how do you think it will go?

I ask because I want to book my October day passes and, hopefully, I’d get credit for those days when annual passes are available for purchase. However, if it seems likely that I won’t get credit, maybe I’m better off waiting to see if APs come back and then I can use it in October.

If by the time October comes, APs are on sale, you can upgrade those when you get to the park...may even be able to do it over the phone...I have always done in person. I was able to use a ticket toward my AP renewal in January

Personally, I think we will see them back for sale by then.

I have a Platinum Pass that is going to expire. How much is the renewal and also with no more Platinum Pass what type of AP will I get? TIA
