DVC Annual Pass Discount - any news?

DVC AP is $494.16 (renew = $419.61)
DVC Premium AP is $621.96 (renew = $526.11)

Last year, you could get a Premium AP for $399

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are two separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lower price range is for Florida Residents and for DVC Members. And the higher price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

And of the six possible DVC Member AP types, the price difference from Tourist ranges between $105 and $145.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

But because I am a DVC member.... I qualify for a discount on the purchase of an Annual Pass.

It makes no sense to say that there IS no discount, just because it is the same % or amount as another discount that is available, but one must meet a criteria to receive that discount.

It also could be very confusing for people looking for information.

Being a DVC member DOES qualify the DVC member and their immediate family, living at the same residence, for a discounted AP.

What he is saying is it's a separate type of pass rather than a discount. That is important because if there is another discount, like the renew for 15 months at 12 month price, you can also apply that to the DVC AP because it is not considered already a discount, so there's no "double dip".

I called today to add a waitlist for a trip and I was asking CM about Annual Pass. I explained I was staying in April at DVC but was coming for XMAS but staying off property in Dec, and was trying to figure out best way to purchase AP and attempt to avoid lines.

She said I could order with her BUT said if she was recommending to me (as she would to her family) that I should wait until I get here. It made it sound like that something was on the horizon. It's possible I just misunderstood what she was saying but my fingers are crossed.

Window is 30 days prior to 30 days after the expiration date.

If you get a renewal, the next year of admission starts on the day your active pass expires. So obviously, you do not want to pay for a renewal if you do not want the renewal year to begin immediately after the active pass expires.

If you want to postpone the start of your year of admission, you need to buy a voucher (or get a will-call number) for a NEW annual pass.

I believe the renewal window is 30 days after the last use date on our AP. Once you renew it's not activated until you get to the parks, but the activation date goes back to your renewal date.

So for example:

If your renewal date was 10/14/13, you bought your renewal on 11/10/13 but didn't activate your pass until 5/13/14, your pass would still only be good until 10/14/14 before you need to renew again.

The CM I spoke to in October suggested I not renew and just wait and start a new pass, because I'm not planning to go back until January and my new pass will then run Jan 2014 to Jan 2015, rather than Oct 2013 to Oct 2014. Since we're planning to go: Jan 2014, Feb 2014, Oct 2014, Dec 2014 and Jan 2015 before the pass expires, this made a lot of sense.

I am debating when to order my new pass. I really want to be able to book FP+ for Jan and Feb, but if a big discount is coming up, I'd like to get it since I'm buying 2 passes. Decisions!

Am I reading your sticky correctly where it says AP's can be renewed 30 days before or 30 days after expiration date? I renewed my DVC AP at 45 days before expiration and Disney says they can be renewed up to 60 days before expiration. For some reason the link I copied form the Disney site is not opening but the info can be found under Annual Pass renewal.
