DVC Annual Pass Discount - any news?

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #15-G, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

Random question: I'm assuming the reason I can't see any information in your signature is that I'm using the app to read the boards-- do I have to use a web browser to see it or am I missing something? Thanks!

Last year was a tremendous offer and we should not think aassume that they would repeat that in the future.

No assumptions here. In fact, we already got our tickets. It's simply wishful thinking. We don't have any plans for next year yet BUT could be persuaded by an offer like that. :-)

How do you find out, or know where to look, for the AP discounts? We are new DVC members, so is this something that is emailed out?

Second question: If something comes out like that (PAP for $399), and we buy it now, does the activation date still hold true---meaning, we purchase in December, but do not activate until next November, and still retain the year of usage from Nov '14 to Nov '15?

According to MDE you can renew 60 days prior or up to 30 days after it expires. You do keep your current anniversary date no matter when you renew.

Boxer....log into the DVC member home page. Click on the tab "member extras" and then click on "perks and discounts". the click on "tickets and tours".Finally, click on "savings on annual passes". It will bring you to a chart that shows regular prices for passes vs. DVC discount for passes; also, renewal prices for DVC members. The way we usually did it: go to any ticket window for any park, present all forms of I.D. (drivers license, DVC member card....I forget what else...oh, credit card or room key card with charging privelges (but watch what your spending limit is). You need to weigh the cost of a park hopper vs. regular annual pass or premium pass. If you only go for a few days per year, annual passes may not be worth it.

Regarding the wonderful $399 premium pass discount....if I recall correctly, I received an e-mail from member services with the announcement. Don't know if we will se another offer like that. It is very important that DVC has your current e-mail address in file for these types of offers. Got some great cruise offers via e-mail also.

Congrats on becoming a DVC member. Best money we ever spent.

Thank you!!! We actually talked to people in the parks a couple weeks ago before we purchased, and did not hear even ONE complaint about owning the DVC. We knew at that point it was time for us to get in!

Last year, you could get a Premium AP for $399

Been holding out for this offer again to renew. Don't think it is going to be offered again - it was too good to be true!

I agree with the above as far as watching for perk changes with one possible addendum...

Watch THIS board. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, gets past this crowd. If it's DVC related, good or bad, there's a 9 out of 10 chance you will see it first on this board, and likely in this very forum (Mousecellanous). You can take that to the bank.

Just thought I would post an update. I had questioned if I would be able to bridge my 5 day MYW tix bought from UT and loaded on my MDE account. I went to guest relations at Epcot on our third day of our trip last week and was able to bridge them without a problem. I did have to ask though. I was at first told a higher price. But lucky for my, I had the price all figured out and written down. So, I knew when she told me what the right number was, I was happy. Not as good as the $399 deal but still happy that I got a little break. And also happy to be an AP holder for the first time and planning to make use of it again in March!! :thumbsup2

Just a tidbit ......got a call from DVC "Homecoming Team" member last night about our upcoming January trip to VGF. As we chatted about linking our DVC reservation to MDE, the subject of tickets came up. He asked if we had tickets yet to which I replied "No because we're not sure yet about our early 2015 plans and once we decide on that, we may opt for AP's. Why? Are they planning to offer the PAP deal again." He then replied that if so DVC hadn't been informed of it, but that it had been extremely popular last year and...."you might want to wait a week or two to buy AP's...just in case." So.....I had a difficult time grasping if he truly was giving me a hint or if it was just wishful thinking on my part!

That, and $465(+tax), will get you your APs. ;)

Question? If for some miracle this deal is offered. I bought my AP's in preparation for a trip in 3 weeks. Can I refund the AP's being that they have not been activated and purchase the "magical" tickets?

Technically no. But an AP Voucher (or will-call reservation or exchange certificate) does not expire and may be converted to an AP any time in the future.

(This does not apply to the special sale last year for deeply discounted PAPs.)

Dear Disney,

How about you throw us a bone and offer the DVC PAP for $399 again. We promise we will make more trips and drop more money all over the place.

Sincerely,

FRANKTSJR

Ok tomatoe/tomaatoe.

Whether you call it a discount or not, Last year I was able to purchase a premium AP for 400 bucks. which is considerably less than what it normally sells. So semantics aside, for the considerable savings you can call it what you want.

So back to the op's question. Has anyone heard if they are going to offer it or not?

^Still nothing to indicate it will happen again. My guess is it is why Claire Bilby was transferred; she was being too nice to the members.

The last time I bought a DVC annual pass I paid $316 dollars taxes in, I think that was 6 years ago. I wish my income would adjust to inflation as much as Disney cranks up their prices. $495 for a DVC annual pass? That is the deal they are giving these days??? That is insane.

$399 for a premium sounds alot better. I wish they would come out with a DVC night pass (3:30 PM and later) for DVC members who want to eat at Epcot etc. $199 bucks would be fair.
