DVC and meal plan

If any of you who know DVC have a minute I posted on the resort board a question .

titled-HELP we have POR but we may get DVC now! Figured it being a place to stay I should post it there not on the dining forum

TIA

If your friends don't already have a vacation reserved at DVC for Dec 07, they will probably have to go on a waitlist and who knows how long that it. It might not come through.

DVC has not negotiated the Disney Dining Plan for 2008 since DDP hasn't been determined yet for 2008. It all could change based on what Disney does with the dining plan.

We are staying in a 2BR at SSR this trip. We got the DDP. DH loves to eat out and the DDP is a great deal. Plus we are taking my parents who haven't been in 10 years, and they wanted to get the DDP after we raved about it after our last couple of trips. We will still use our kitchen for a light breakfast as well as cocktails in afternoon:rotfl:

we stay at 1 bedroom and have always used the DDP. we usually eat breakfast in, but the rest is vacation

Exactly the same for me--I'm on vacation so I am not preparing meals! FOr our family the DDP provides a plan that is exactly how we eat at WDW. We have breakfast in the room, have a CS for lunch and a TS for dinner--occasionally we will do signature dining and that means 2 CS on occasion. I dont' have the time or inclination on vacation to scramble back to the room to prepare food.

I was reading about everyone not cooking on vacation. I guess my family is out of the norm. When all the family goes (about 12 people) we stay in a grand villa. Usually 5 nights and at least one but usually 2 we cook a huge dinner in the villa for everyone. Consisting of seafood, meat, veggies, pasta, potato...anythign you could think of. And besides that we always have lunch meat in the fridge and whip up some chicken salad. The first day down there we always make a run to SAMS CLUB and the Windixie to get all the food so were prepared for the trip. Oh and like every morning we whip up some eggs bacon ect. I dunno when theres that many people cooking and eating its not so much like work but kind of fun. Ok, now I even sound crazy to myself. :rotfl:

I don't think it sounds crazy. It sounds like a wonderful family time. Unfortunately, most of us can't stay in GVs much less have that many family members with us. But it does sound delightful!

I am sure it would be fun on one level. I work from home and do homedaycare so the last thing I want is dirty dishes to clean up after.

I am sure we would eat cereal or something simple like a sandwhich. other then that no big meal plans will be made by me

I completely agree....sounds like alot of fun. Unfortuantely, for the 3 of us (DH, DS, and myself) it just doesn't make sense. We wish we could get family members to join us for vacation. We often see the big family groups while at WDW and are very envious. Although, when we returned this year my DM-in law mentioned how nice it would be to be invited along one year. And DS9 is gettting to the age where I'm thinking we need to invite a freind along for my DS to have someone to play with. Dh and I only have 150 pts, but are thinking about saving a year or borrowing from another so we can get a 2BR and invite them along next time, along with a neice/nephew or 2. I'm starting to think I better start saving alot more money than normal if I'm gonna try to pull this off.
