DVC and DDP for 2009

We will be doing a week at WDW prior to our September cruise. We plan on purchasing the DDP for this trip (all foodies in this group).

My question is, if/when they announce free dining for September, will we suddenly not be able to get the dining plan (as we are staying DVC and not doing a rack rate resort/MYW package)? Or will we still have the option to purchase the dining plan?

You'll be able to pay for the DDP.

Historically, those staying on points at DVC have not been offered any kind of "free dining" promotion though.

Whew! I was afraid we would be totally shut out. Have no probelm with paying, it's already in the budget.

You cannot get free dining with a DVC reservation, you'll need to pay for it.

If you are renting the points, have the member you are renting from call DVC Member Services and add the dining plan you want to your reservation.

Are there times when it's not advantageous to use DDP? We haven't to date, but everyone we've spoken with in person (we're new to the boards here) raves about it and recommends always using DDP.

I have not used it since 2007 and likely will not use it again. I do not have a family to feed, though, and I don't generally order at TS restaurants the way one must order on the dining plan.

As this is the dining plan board I believe most posters here are inclined to use it.
