DVC and cash?

Hi there!

We are just starting to kick around the idea of DVC ownership. I am wondering if we purchased less than 150 points on resale, could we then add cash to get the # of vacation nights we wanted? It may be that the DVC is strictly points only, but I can't seem to find much info about this.

You can add cash nights, if available (that can be a big IF). There is a 25% discount for members at the DVC resorts only. You are more likely to be able to get a cash night for Friday and Saturday since members tend to avoid those days because of the higher points.

If you are short points for a particular reservation, you have a few options:

*Borrow points from the next year's allocation
* Find another DVC member who is willing to transfer points to your account (for $$ of course). You need to do this yourself. MS will transfer the points, but you and the other member have to agree and implement all the other terms of the deal.
*Try to get a cash reservation wither from DVC or CRO - this must be for a whole night. Can't use a combination of cash & points for the same night. If you reserve some nights for cash and some for points, there is a possibility you will have to move/change rooms.

If you were thinking you could call Member Services for a reservation and just send cash to make up for any shortage of points, the answer is no, you can't do that.
