We just returned from a 10 day trip. We are DVC members as well as AP holders. We have out credit card linked to our MB so when we go out we only take out our MB, drivers license, and DVC membership card (we like skipping bag check). We loved the DVC member discount while shopping.

I did encounter one problem while shopping at the Coke Cola store in Disney Spring. When making my purchase I told them I was a DVC member. They do not honor DVC so I said what about AP. They said Yes I just need to show my AP card.

We have been AP holders for 3 years. We have never been sent ID cards. We always just take the confirmation # to guest services and they link them to our MB. Luckily he let me pull up my membership type on My Disney Experience and get the discount.

I guess I need to call and have a AP card sent. Honestly, I did not even know they existed.

The AP card is the actual hard ticket that you receive when buying an AP or activating the voucher at Guest Services or other ticket booth. I always carry mine around just in case there's an issue with my magic band and also to receive the AP discount.

It's easy to get a (new) one with your drivers license we found out after DH lost his Wednesday night.

That's a little strange they've never given you a card when you've activated the AP at GS. The very first year of the MB's they did try something different and sent out separate AP discount cards but I think that may have only lasted a year before they just started giving the cards out when activated again.

I have learned my lesson - always carry Disney Visa, AP, DL, DVC Member card and if I have TIW. Never leave home without them. They want to make sure the right person is receiving the discount. It would be easy if it worked since everything is linked but anyone can switch and hand out a MB to someone for purchases/discounts then.

You would think they could just take a picture of a guest or have them upload a picture to your MDE account and have it pop-up on the cash register display when paying with MB.

I would ALWAYS carry a credit card. You never know when you may find yourself needing one. It could be an emergency where you need to leave the property, or even something as simple as a non Disney vendor who doesn't accept a room charge.
