DVC add on from Canada

Hello everybody,

This may be a little convoluted but here goes:

I recently made my first DVC purchase. It was a small purchase of 50 points for BCV. I purchased resale for a couple of reasons, one of the main ones being due to timeshare laws in my province - DVC can't even send me the video. For some reason I can purchase resale? Anyhow I would like to add on between 50-100 points for BCV but I would like to purchase direct through Disney.

Here is my question: has anyone in a province that has timeshare laws bought direct from disney to add on to a membership? Does anyone know if this can be done?

If DVC is not registered to sell in your province the easiest way to purchase is either at DL or WDW (all purchasers need to be physically there).

Even if you have an existing contract they cannot sell to you in your province.

I suspect you could also purchase at one of the Doorway to Dreams locations.

Just look at it as a good reason for a trip.

We are in Manitoba and had to purchase while we were in WDW. That's what we have to do if we want to add on as well. I also think it is a great reason to HAVE to book a trip!

OP where are you?

DVC is allowed to sell in Ontario and Alberta. They also are able to sell CGV in BC now and from my previous conversation with DVC I had they are trying to get licensed to sell both Aulani and WDW resorts.

Tagsmissy, we are in the atlantic provinces.

I was just really hoping I could call up and waitlist for an add on over the phone. Just to complicate matters we are wanting to add BCV with an October UY, so I know we would have to go on a waitlist. I guess I would have to waitlist at the start at the trip and hope that it came through before we left?

Does anyone know why I can buy resale timeshare but not direct? Or is it just that Disney adheres to my provincial law while others may be unaware?
