DVC 3 bedroom villas at Wilderness Lodge(Bolder Ridge Villas)??

The current/existing VWL have been renamed Boulder Ridge Villas. There is no change to the existing villas except for the pool area. The new villas (converted hotel rooms and the lakeside cabins) have been named Copper Creek Villas. Both comprise the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. There is a Part I and a Part II and should be entirely separate ownerships. Part I will not be entitled to reserve Part II and 11 months out and vice versa.

Wow ok so Boulder ridge(wlv) unchanged except for pool area.

What my mind can't comprehend is....

Are they building copper creek on "WLV" property...

Meaning I will leave my "Boulder (wlv)
Walk around property and see bungalows that are not part of WlV?

Tell me it's not like the poly bungalows
That I could see from my studio (poly)
And it would be a separate resort?

I'm so sorry for being this dense :headache:
Thanks

Yes. There will now be three "properties" at Wilderness Lodge: The Lodge (Disney hotel), Copper Creek (new DVC), and Boulder Ridge (existing DVC).

It will be exactly like Poly with the Bungalows along the beach as well.

If you have a lakeside room at VWL the cabins and new restaurant and a couple other small unknown buildings will be part of your view. :sad2: There will also be cabins along the shore past the boat dock and going the direction of the waterway to MK. The ones by old VWL will start just past the boat/bike rental building and follow along the old dirt path towards the direction of FW.

It is confusing. But as indicated, Boulder Ridge is just a new name for the current VWL. Nothing else about this resort is changing. Then a completely new and unrelated DVC resort is being built which will be Copper Creek Villas. So at the end of the day, this has no impact on VWL ownership at this point other than two years of living in a construction zone.

Or, what they used to claim as the "nature trail." Potentially losing this trail has bothered me, almost as much as losing the beach, the trees, the Hidden Springs pool, the wilderness. . .I liked the natural aspect of VWL (which, by the way, I will always call it as Boulder Ridge reminds me of someplace in Arizona), the serenity, the quiet. It remains to be seen what part of that returns.

I think I also got the comparison to Arizona rather than Yellowstone (my first impression when VWL was built in 2000) during the full renovation a few years ago. It looked more Native American rather than National Parks of the NW.

Thank you Sleepy!!! I was having a moment and couldn't think of what it was called when I wrote that. Old dirt trail was not meant the way it sounded when read. :rotfl:

Which followed the renovation for the WL hotel side a few years ago. I remember reading that they received some award or at least high recognition for the Native American theme. And I too thought it was a shift from the original theme although there certainly where Native Americans around Yellowstone too. It just wasn't a huge part of the theme used originally.

As far as the original theme, I remember when I took the Lodge tour years ago with our dear departed friend Stan the Ranger, he pointed out the Native American roots of Wilderness Lodge including the huge totem poles in the lobby. Also the lobby floor features a design adapted from a Native American creation story and highlights four different types of wood, including pine, bird's eye maple, and Brazilian cherry. You can see this design clearly from the higher floors in the lobby. And there is the annual "Blessing of the Four Directions"... every year visiting interpreters James Hansen (Black Wolf) and Anita Hansen (Quick Silver) perform a short ceremony, symbolically driving out negative energy and purifying the resort for the year ahead.

So while the main theming of Wilderness Lodge and VWL were not primarily Native American driven, it has always been a pretty big part of Wilderness Lodge. And I think the newest refurbishment wanted to draw that out more clearly. So not a departure as much as an emphasis, I'd say. :)

I did not know this. I would say those two need to do a more prolonged, emphatic ceremony for the next few years. . . :rolleyes1 pirate:

hope I'm not changing the topic too much here, but wanted to inject my thoughts as to the future point costs of the waterside cabins. I just returned from a short stay at Poly, and while I am not saying I prefer it to VWL, I will say there is more to offer at Poly. Between the monorail, more food options (Kona Café was really good), what is now my favorite by far resort bar (trader sams grog grotto...so cool), and the better views the poly bungalows have, I don't see how the new water cabins can compete point wise. Fine with me though, as I would never stay at the poly bungalows. They actually seemed quite vacated while I was there. Also, someone posted concerns about keeping wildlife out of the water cabins. The poly bungalows have their own magic band gate you have to enter just to get into the walkway/dock that leads to them.

OMG!! I love "WLV" because of the serenity.
Am I missing something or is this terrible for WLV?
Thanks :snooty::-)

Wow I was such a daily "dis'er that I can't believe this slipped by me.
Been going "other" places lol.
I feel this is all negative for "WLV"
It's gonna bring more traffic my area.....block electric pageant view(like poly)
And now if it is pretty cool after all in my view I won't even have a priority booking :headache:

Some of us thought the property was already practically perfect in every way. One of the larger concerns is how much the new additions will change the serenity of the resort. They have removed a LOT of trees that were a big part of the ambiance. The quiet pool is being redone - likely enlarged and I'd guess will be getting features so not as quiet anymore. The new restaurant/mixed use building means no more beach for relaxing on. The nature trail (better @sleepydog25 ? lol) is likely gone in lieu of cabins, or else greatly shortened. And the cabins will take up the sight line of much of Bay Lake. Of course until it's all done and we see the final product we won't really know how it feels and there will likely still be varying views on if it improves the property or not but it's hard to think that it won't be a change for the ambiance, especially of the Villas in particular.

Oh yea WLV is the name lol... I still call "studios" MGM:p
I use that trail.... I loved the "lake" view through the trees that I had.
Felt like wilderness in Florida.... The whole point of the "lodge" feel.... Ahem.. Just sayin:mic:

I am also curious about point structure.
I finally stayed at poly in April before cruise. We had a studio lake view.
Like you bungalows seemed vacant and this was spring break for NY schools. I thought how amazing the view must have been without bungalow(still awesome tho :-). And then I looked again at point chart and realized I would go to friggun bora bora before paying those prices!
But..... I have to agree....I felt my studio was worth it! AmAzing room!! 2bathroom and room for 5. Transportation endless and was way more peaceful than I thought!
Sooo after all this construction if I don't feel my "serenity" now at WLV
Poly will be my new fav:lovestruc

So with Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek being seperate will they share the same pool? How would that work with seperate dues for the two resorts as far as pool refurb is concerned.

The same as any other resort that isn't all DVC. The pool costs will follow the allocation for common area expenses established by Disney which currently seems to be by head count in the rooms. Hotel pays for their percentage based on guests, VWL will pay for theirs and CCC will pay for theirs.
