I watched the youtube podcast from March 8 when kevin and John reviewed the DVC 25 bash event at the MK. Unfortunately they were misinformed as to the details of the event. Some of the details I did not know about until I arrived and got my brochure. It seems they did not get one at all because if they had they would have known more about the event when they did the review. They went there early and could find no event activities going on and the park was crowded. The details of the event clearly said the event started at 9:30 but you could get early entry at 7:00. They left before the event started. They said a cast member told them there was a buffet and that person was wrong but it was clearly stated it was to be snacks. The snacks were cookies and chips and lemonade and water and free ice cream bars. There was an abundance of tables and snack everywhere I went. I never ran across where the executives were located and would have liked to see them but never did. I do not know even what I would want to say to them so it did not bother us. There were quite a few good attractions open. They did clear the park. We had to go through checkpoints to get to tomorrowland. The fireworks were spectacular at 11:30. I believe the park closed at midnight. We never saw the souvenior t-shirts in question but would not have interested and too bad if they were sub poor quality. All in all we thought the event was very nice. The buses were not in the stall normally appointed to each resort but someone was there directing. We were staying at coronado springs, not a dvc resort and we had no problem getting a bus. There were plenty available and well organized. Could it have been better, likely, but it was still very nice. I do watch and enjoy the shows and too bad this was so inaccurate. They were not even there during the event so pretty hard to review it. We enjoyed it and we have told DVC. I hope lots of others do the same. It was free event and was a long was from being as bad as a free event could be. I think I heard Pete say on a show, maybe this one, something about too much negativity in the forums. I think this was, unfortunately, also too negative and inappropriately so. I do watch the forums and learned lots about DVC and the Parks so it is too bad people have gotten such a bad impression from watching and listening to this review.
We are very grateful to DVC and MK for designing and presenting the event and we hope all further DVC 25 events planned for this year go as well.001.jpg 001.jpg 001.jpg 002.jpg 003.jpg 004.jpg 001.jpg 002.jpg 003.jpg 004.jpg

Thanx for your review of the event, and glad you had a nice time. Only thing I can say (not having been there, but watching the show) was John and Kevin gave their impressions of their experience, as you did yours. And apparently each was different, and yours was a good one, happily for you and your family. I'm sure everyone else that goes will have their own, unique experience, and hopefully they will be mostly positive as well.

That is almost true and I do not want to turn this into a shouting match or anything like that. I respect anyones right to express their opinion. The difference here is I was at the event and they left before it even started.

I should have added to my original post that the posted closing time for the park was 9 and this started at 9:30

I also enjoyed the event and was grateful to DVC it. I am a new DVC member, so I am not aware if these events are common or not. I appreciated the fact that they had the event at the park for us and our guests. I cannot imagine it is inexpensive to hold such an event and we were not charged anything additional for it. The cast members working the event did not work for free, so the event must have cost DVC a pretty penny. I was also grateful that they allowed us into the park at 7:00 PM, which meant we could get into the attractions that were not open during the event itself.

The fireworks were amazing and worth attending the event just for that.

As for the refreshments, the cookies, chips and lemonade / ice water were fine. We did not expect much more from a complimentary event. We were also offered unlimited ice cream treats that night at a few of the carts, which was fantastic.

I am looking forward to future DVC events.

I remember them saying they left early so I imagine that they missed out on several things primarily due to when everything was scheduled.

I'm glad you enjoyed the event. I have yet to attend something DVC that was anything but spectacular. My favorite was the private bash at Typhoon Lagoon this summer.

Mike - check the member benefits section of the DVC site. Lots of great things coming up!

We thoroughly enjoyed the event on March 3rd. We were able to see Wishes and the DVC fireworks that night. The snacks were fine, and who could complain about free ice cream?? Cosmic Rays was very crowed as the only eatery open and everyone seemed to kill time there early on to eat before the official start of the party at 9:30. The DJ dance party was fun as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto were on the dance floor, and very approachable for pictures etc. Bravo DVC!
