DVC $199 Ticket Deal - Likely in the future?

Hi All,

Typically I have just gotten a DVC annual pass from year to year. However, my family finds that as we continue to travel to Disney over the years (member since 1999), we tend to spend less time in the parks. However, because we have an annual pass, we usually do go daily to a park but we just don't spend an entire day anymore. Also, park hopping really doesn't interest us any longer.

I think the 4-day ticket would be something we would use. I am looking for some feedback and thoughts on this. Do you think Disney is likely to do something like this in the future? Was it a failure? Did you like the idea or hate it? Was it too restrictive?

I have read several posts about potential problems for some when actually using the tickets. Or some people finding out that a DVC member had to be present when a ticket was used and so on. That really isn't an issue for us since it is really just my wife and myself traveling and we are both members. So other than that, what thoughts do you have?

Thanks!

I personally like the AP option as it makes the parks feel like an extension of the resorts. I don't have the feeling that walking into the park has a cost associated with it. Regardless of what we did that day, including a pool day, we like to go for a stroll in Epcot grab a drink and sweets in France- or pretzel etc. if I had to use a "ticket" day it would have a hefty price for that experience. We love the feeling of treating the whole WDW as a resort come and go whenever we want with no additional cost. We are a family of 6 and everyone wants to do different things sometimes. The flexibility and "perception" we get from the AP adds to a relaxing vacation for our family. We don't spent much time at the parks but do go almost every day, can't imagine we would do that without an AP. It would definitely change how we enjoy Disney.

We've been owners since 2006 and we still like to maximize our park time (and still go commando many days). We like the AP's - have never been able to get in on any the special deals they've offered over the last few years as our plans had us heading west instead of south so I'm crossing my fingers for another deal on the Premium one like they did last winter. We would LOVE to be able to plan 3 trips off of them next time. There have been times tho that I wished we could've just gotten a discount on regular park hoppers (regardless of how many days they were for). We would never be happy being stuck with only 1 park / day although if the only deal available was the $199 one we'd probably at least consider being stuck. We just wouldn't LIKE it.

That's about as well put as I've ever seen it summarized. That's exactly the way we feel and do.

With ds19 in college we have not been to WDW more than once a year max

We are going at spring break ( yes he will still allow us to be seen with him) and the 4 day pass was perfect, since he wants to spend one day in Universal. He also agreed to go next Christmas for three days and Disney gave us a free three nights stay in a DVC 1bedroom of our choice plus three days of multipark passes because of a problem we had with the magic bands a year ago at Christmas.

So on dec 31 I bought the 4 day pass.

Overall it was a good deal considering our situation

Yup! This is us! We have gone with family who make use of non-expiring tickets and will only go to the parks if they are going to get a full day out of it as it makes it a "waste" if not.

I just love with my AP the option to simply go in/out for nothing more than that drink or treat, or just to get in the sights of the park!!! I went in November to visit DD 22 who is a marketing intern and spent a few days, while she worked, just walking around the parks and window shopping...its was so nice!!!

I originally bought the $199 ticket thinking it'd be fine, but got there an realized it made more sense to simply renew my AP, which is did!

What happened to get that much from Disney for a Magic Band issue?

What happened to get that much from Disney for a Magic Band issue?

For three days the bands did not work

Could not get into the room, or the parks, or buy food or items in the stores

Went back 7 times to the front desk and concierge , got replacements twice but nothing worked.

Finally had to go with a paper pass to the parks and the old style room key.

They told us about 10% had major problems during the rollout and ours was one of the worst so I asked for compensation and they agreed. We have our choice of any DVC location except VGF, which was too new to offer. Naturally at the time the first one I thought of was VGF. Recently they also offered the club level of Yacht club or Beach club which my wife likes.
